^I agree with the above statement on Tarantino's movie soundtracks...I own most of them & they're all great.
Natural Born Killers is probably my favorite of all-time simply because listening to it is almost the same experience as watching the movie.
Others I love (and own): A Clockwork Orange, Lost Highway, U-turn, Nightmare Before Christmas (and pretty much all of Danny Elfman's soundtracks), Stand By Me, Underworld, Tank Girl, The Crow (both soundtrack and score), House of 1000 Corpses, and 28 Days Later.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

Easy Rider was the first soundtrack album of contemporary (at the time) music instead of selected scores from the film's composer. This ground-breaking soundtrack features songs from Music Editor Donn Camdern's personal record collection in the same order as they were featured in the film. It included such 60s music heros as Hendrix, Steppenwolf, and The Band. The song by The Band had to be cover by Smith on the soundtrack, due to the fact that the record label could not secure the rights to use The Band.
Bob Dylan (probably the biggest 60s icon of them all) was asked to contirbute music, but he was reluctant to use his own recording of "It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)", so a version by The Byrds was used instead. Instead of writing an entirely new song for the film, Dylan wrote the first verse of "Ballad of Easy Rider" and told the filmmakers, "Give this to McGuinn, he'll know what to do with it." McGuinn completed the song and performed it in the film.
Another movie with a good 60's soundtrack was Woodstock from 1970.
And what about "The Big Chill" soundtrack with all the old Motown favorites.

Conan the Barbarian - Basil Poledouris
Topio Stin Omichli - Eleni Karaindrou
Agnes of God - Georges Delerue
Capricorn One - Jerry Goldsmith
Huan Ying - Zhao Jiping
Used to really like film soundtracks, but it never occurred to me until I delved deeper into the realm of Romantic and early 20th century classical music, how much plagiarism is involved in the scoring process, with James Horner being a huge offender. If you listen to a film composer (classically trained), chances are you may come across a motif or hook that's lifted directly from a piece by Wagner, Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Stravinsky, Holst, Dvorak, Debussy and so forth.
