I'm a James Bond fan (which guy really isn't?) but since I grew up during the Roger Moore years, I've only really seen those (and the new ones).

My top three Moore ones are:

1. Octopussy - location is awesome (crowded streets of India, jungles of India, Communist East Germany, and of course, the skydiving scene)

2. For Your Eyes Only - the ski chase in the bobsled, and the ski jump, man, those were priceless moments

3. Moonraker - JAWS, the greatest Bond villain. and he turns into a good guy at the end. loved it!

Timothy Dalton as James Bond? never gonna watch those again. How disappointing. Pierce Brosnan, he was a good Bond, but only in the first one (Golden Eye). the rest of the Bond films suffered not coz of the actor, but because of the ever more idiotic special FX used. Bond should stay in the stunt-part of action, not in cheezy laser beam melting an iceberg and then james bond CGI version surfing on the tidal wave caused by the melted iceberg. In that regards, I'm really glad 'Casino Royale' went more for the stunts and less for CGI. There might be hope after all for a new wave of great Bond films.

Now the reason I started this thread is because I acquired a ton of old Bond films, and don't have much time to watch them, but wanted to know what your top 3 Sean Connery Bond films are, so I can watch them in that order. The only Connery Bond I've seen recently (i might've seen some as a kid, but dont remember them) is 'You Only Live Twice'. I thought it was good, though it did get a bit too carried away at the end, and too much cheap 1960's style special f/x was used, with the moon base rocket and such. But the first half of the film was a blast to watch.

So what are you favorite Connery Bond films?

Most people would argue that FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE is the ultimate Connery Bond. Then it's a toss-up twixt DR NO and GOLDFINGER. I've always had an unreasonable fondness for DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER...it's a seventies thing.

Ah, the 70s Bond films. They have a unique charm. 'Live and Let Die' and 'Man with the Golden Gun' are two other ones with pure 70s style to them.

Thanks for the suggestions, coyote.

I know this is a while ago, and you've probably watched the Connery films by now, but:

My favourites, from Connery's 'era' of Bond are the first three. But I can't decide in which order of preference. As for Moore, my favourites of his are: The Spy Who Loved Me, A View to a Kill, and Live and Let Die. For Your Eyes Only is the one I always forget, and know nothing about, despite having seen it a few times. I also quite liked Dalton - License to Kill is my favourite Bond film, and The Living Daylights is quite fun. With Lazenby, he doesn't leave us any choice for favourites, does he? Brosnan? IMO, his best is Tomorrow Never Dies, closely followed by GoldenEye.

I was very pleased with the way Casino Royale turned out, and am looking forward to further Daniel Craig Bond films.

If you've watched the Connery films now, why not let us know what you thought of each one?
