Right now is Donnie Yen. I've been watching the amazing movies he's done with director Wilson Yip lately, and Im really enjoying them so far. Donnie steals the show.

Son Ye-jin
Bae Du-na
Eun-hye Park
So Yi-hyun (from Gloria)
Kim So-yeon

and this man-beast of an ass kicker: Tony Jaa

I almost didn't recognize Vicky Zhao with hair since all I remember her as is the shiny bald head in Shaolin Soccer.

Am I going to get flamed if all my guys/gals are from Godzilla movies?? =P

Haruo Nakajima - The actor inside Godzilla's original suit and many of the famous ones that followed. This guy put his physical health on the line going into a new medium to special effects - suitimation - which added a popular alternative to stop motion for animating giant monsters.

Akira Takarada - The hero from the original Gojira who also made appearances in a good number of the successive Showa Godzilla films (and again in Final Wars!).

Akihiko Hirata - He played the tortured scientist Serizawa in Gojira. Probably the most interesting character in the film.

Kumi Mizuno - She also made an appearance in Final Wars. I remember her most from her role in Invasion of the Astro Monster, where she played a female alien from Planet X torn between her human lover and her allegiance to her homeworld.

...that's all I can come up with at the moment. Pretty much any recurring actor/actress in kaiju productions who acted well and played someone written to be interesting in the first place has my vote.

I really liked Godzilla: Final Wars. I remember Akihiko Hirata from Godzilla vs. King Kong, which absolutely needs a sequel.

I haven't seen a lot of Asian actors or Asian films, so mine are fairly mainstream. But they were very memorable actors for me.

1) Jay Chou, from the Green Hornet reboot: adorable, charming, funny. I want to see more of him in the future.

2) Ken Watanabe, from Inception, Memoirs of a Geisha, and The Last Samurai: Also charming, dignified, handsome (oh so handsome!) and suave. I hardly ever like war movies but I want to see Letters from Iwo Jima now I know he's in it.

3) Michelle Yeoh, from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Sunshine, and Memoirs of a Geisha: Beautiful, graceful, poised. She shouldn't have done that last Mummy movie, it was below her talents.

Tony Leung Chiu Wai is, hands down, one my favourite actors. His resume is impressive - In the Mood for Love, Infernal Affairs, Happy Together, Chungking Express, City of Sadness, Lust/Caution, Red Cliff and Hero. The list is indeed long. He has played, to my knowledge, the romantic lead, the bad guy, a gay man, a blind man and a mute man. He's a fantastically talented and versatile actor.

Just the other day, I was thinking about Toshiro in Akahige and Yojimbo. I went through a Kurosawa phase that lasted for months, but I haven't watched a good ronin film in a couple of years. Hmm, I think I'll change that soon.

Just wanted to add to this thread another good piece of Asian cinema: Dr. Wai in the Scriptures with No Words. It's sort of a Hong Kong version of Indiana Jones with lots of laughs. It's not as mainstream as other Jet Li movies, but it does have a hilarious rematch with Billy Chow, who was General Fujita in 1994's Fist of Legend, the much better remake of Chinese Connection (Sorry, Bruce.) Poor Billy was typecasted as an evil Japanese general again, lol. Plus Onimusha, I mean Takeshi Kaneshiro is Jet's sidekick.

Also, Forbidden City Cop (Stephen Chow) was recently remastered and put on Blu-Ray. Great date movie if your girl likes kung fu comedy.

Dunno about you guys, but I like pairing whatever Asian movie I'm watching with the appropriate food. Japanese movie-Japanese food. Chinese movie-Chinese food. And now I'm starving.
