The Expendables II will be PG-13...

PvtCaboose91 13 years, 2 months ago at Feb 17 2:21 -
I have just realised that Listal has no dedicated thread for this abomination. And the site deserves one, as it's one of the most controversial things to happen in the world of films.

EX 2 has become a joke. It will be an idiotic, flaming turd of a PG-13 action film, disgracing the world of action cinema and squandering the greatest cast ever assembled.

It's an outrage.

Count me out. I will not pay money to see this bullshit. Stallone is a sellout.

Dude, you don't get what the PG-13 represents.

In this day and age, we get SO MANY PG-13 blockbusters that are boring due to their watered-down nature. Stallone fought against this, and gave us Rambo, one of the best, most phenomenal action/war films we've seen in years. His vendetta was to please his fans and finish the Rambo saga in a dignified manner. He succeeded marvellously.

Then he gave us The Expendables, pulling together the greatest action cast ever. He listened to his fans. He went out & hired actors based on what his fans wanted. When he hired 50 Cent, fans said NO, so he fired the dude and got Terry Crews instead. When Avi Lerner said he'd prefer a PG-13 rating, Sly fought against it. So they tested both a PG-13 and an R-rated version, and the R-rated cut won.

Against all odds, The Expendables was a MASSIVE box office hit. Stallone was giving us what we wanted, so men flocked to the cinema. Grown men went to the movies with their elderly fathers. Dads took their teenaged kids to the film and loved it.

Stallone had triumphed. The studio took a huge gamble for The Expendables and it paid off. They became flushed with cash. They were rewarded for their bravery.

But now? It's all for nothing. The first film's success has led to NOTHING. It was meant to prove R-rated blockbusters have legs. It did. And now the sequel to that film will be PG-13. Now one of the best purveyors of R-rated cinema has sold out and doesn't care about the fans who were alongside him as he made his comeback.

Sorry, I was supporting your last sentence:
Count me out. I will not pay money to see this bullshit. Stallone is a sellout.

I'm glad you gave me the background though. I didn't know so much was going on behind the scenes of the first film.

You're really mad about this aren't you? xD

I enjoyed the first Expendables for what it was, and I would watch it again, but I honestly never really had great expectations for the second one, even after the cast was revealed. In any case, this PG-13 doesn't surprise me anymore, is was almost expected, but I feel your pain, it's a shame really, though a PG-13 movie can still be a good movie. Still, not for this kind of movie...

Not anymore. It is now announced that The Expendables 2 will be rated R.

Didnt Chuck Norris agree to take part of this film ONLY if there is NO swearing? Atleast that's what I heard.

I can't imagine it mattering that much. From what I remember of the first Expendables (and that was rated R somehow?) the only difference would be how many "fucks" will be said. It was a mediocre action flick at best, hardly worth an R rating at all. There is nothing there to call "extreme". It's an R in name only. PG-13 would be just fine.

Yeah sure... Terry Crews blowing people to smithereens with his AA12 was PG-13. So was Gunnar blowing a pirate in half with a grenade launcher, SO PG-13... And Munroe getting shot 6 times before getting a knife through his back...and Sly cutting arms and heads off, and stabbing people through the next... Yup, I remember seeing this type of stuff in PG kiddie films!!

Don't be such a naive twat...

Plus the sequel has been confirmed as R, and critics describe it as an "orgy of exploding heads".

If it somehow ends up on one of the premium movie channels in the near future, I may catch it. But just having an actor or three I like in it doesn't mean it's a must see for me. I need more plot than stuff blowing up or people dying to go out of my way to see a movie.

It's happening again. The Expendables 3 will be rated PG-13. DIDN'T SYLVESTER STALLONE LEARN HIS LESSON 2 YEARS AGO?!?
