error when viewing images.

Can anyone help, I keep getting the following when i try to view an image.

A critical error has occured
This error has been logged and will be dealt with asap.

This happen to me as well about four hours ago, and is working now.
This has never happen before, what does it mean exactly?.

There was a problem with the database but has been fixed now.
