So I've been using Sennheiser MX500 for the past couple years and they been good ear buds but after a while the connector becomes funny and shorts out the right side so then I would buy a new pair.
Well I've gone through 3 in about the past 4 years and I'm looking and found out that the model is now discontinued.
So now I'm in the market for new ear bud headphones for under $40 that sound good and are ear buds not in ear headphones.
Any suggestions?

I would recommend some Sony's. I bought some found at the following link ...

... and have had them for over a year now with no problems. I have had really good luck with Sony's, and have only gone through 4 or 5 sets in 20 years. Of course there have been stretches that I haven't used them, but the last pair saw some heavy use for a good 4 years before needing replacement.
