DVDs and Movies... difference?

I'm not sure I see the point of alternate categories for DVDs and Movies, is there a specific use that users should have for each?

Well, not all movies are on dvd. Take TARANTULA for instance, it is on R2 dvd, but not R1 dvd, but I have seen the movie so I can record it in Movies for...posterity. It may be more helpful in keeping track of upcoming movies you're interested in seeing.

Movies are what's playing at the movies now.

My question about Dvds / movies, is why the DVD has an icon, on my "Home" page and Movies don't?

Yeah, I just noticed that.... in the top right.
DVDs (on the top tabs) should be capitalized as well.

Having both DVDs and Movies sections is repetative and unuseful as they stand today. There are a number of DVDs that I have watched that I neither "own" nor "want." By the same token, I cannot select the version of the DVD I have seen in the movies section. I think it would be benificial to list whether it is a movie or dvd in the "Product Name" field. When selecting a DVD you can choose between differnt versions/encoding (region 1, region 2, special edition, single disc, re-release) why not just have one product named "cinema?" Having to jump between to different sections to get movie reccomendations, reviews, and a comprehensive picture of a person's taste(s) in movies is particularly unhelpful.

Just read the development blog. NM

Does the fact that it says "Dvds" and not "DVDs" irk anyone besides me?
OCD is great fun!

I tried it as DVDs but I did not think it looked very good (even though that would be the correct way), Hopefully soon the section will just be called movies.

I know you said you read but the blog but I thought I would reply anyway.
If I was starting again I think I would just have the movies section. Currently it runs from two databases imdb for movies and amazon for dvds. I would have people choose if they owned the movie or not and possibly enter edition details.
As mentioned on the blog I would like to link them all up but that would require a lot of effort from me and other users.

They really ought to be linked, effort or no. I'm certainly willing to link mine.
And yes, it should definitely be DVDs. It does look good. It definitely looks better than Dvds which is also just plain incorrect.
Also, while I do love Games, that heart icon is just not applicable (I also love my music). Certainly you could find a gaming icon better suited to the category, no? In fact, you have a different icon on my home page, a star. Not perfect but better than a heart.

I replaced it will the play symbol, still not perfect but better I think.
