Duplicate Places

I love the new Places category, but adding duplicates is way too easy. The reason is, the same place can have several different names! For instance the capital city of the United Kingdom has already been added twice, as "London" and as "London, England". Besides, places have different names in English and in local languages. For instance, "Eiffel Tower" is "Tour Eiffel" in French.

My suggestion would be to at least prevent new places from being added if the source URL has already been used previously either with HTTP or HTTPS protocol.

And further I would suggest to define if the place is a country, town, planet, POI, national park and so on. Then you could filter the places you need.

I guess we could use tags to define the type of place (country, town, planet, building, park...) and its whereabouts (region, country, etc.).

Maybe tags' help text should be rewritten in order to give more specific hints for each category. The old text reads the same everywhere and only has examples for movies:

Use tags to describe a product e.g. for a movie
Themes heist, drugs, kidnapping, coming of age
Genre drama, parody, sci-fi, comedy
Locations paris, submarine, new york

There will be better duplicate checking coming and also a report button to recommend page deletion or merging.
