I don't like the way the DVD Movies are listed now

Robert 18 years, 5 months ago at Nov 28 23:45 -
I see that Listal has changed the way they are displaying the DVD movies. I much preferred the old way where they showed a product image than a brief description of the movie. I see no reason why it was necessary to change. No need to show actor or director pictures.
If you want to show this than perhaps you could just click on the actors or directors name to view their picture

Please, please, revert back to the old way of listing the movies, also
I liked it when listal would indicate who had a particular movie you were looking for.

I find that Listal is a fantastic sight and so do all of my friends.
Keep up the great work

I personally prefer them, I would be interested in other opinions though.

I personally love the new actors/directors thumbnails. I suck at names, and never remember who's who. A visual reminder is great. And the addition of cover art, photos, screenshots on movie page is nice too, instead of being burried on another page.

But I agree with Robert, I'm not quite sure why the Amazon description disappeared from the DVD section. It was never there in Movies, so I dont really miss it, but for people that use the DVD section primarily, it could be tough to swallow. Was there legal issues to removing Amazon plot outline for movies?

There was another discussion about bringing back total sum of all listal members that added a movie. But what about adding just a text link that takes you to a page that would list everyone who watched or wants to watcht the movie, along with their rating for that particular movie? Would something like that be possible/useful?

I am undecided about the amazon reviews, I still may add them back in some form. My main thought is that amazon reviews are on hundreds of sites around the web already and I want to try and keep the content or at least the presentation of information somewhat unique. I also removed them in preparation of allowing editing the product description.

Tom I really liked the movie description could you please at least add a link that would take us to the descriprion
I also liked the feature you had which would let us know who had movies you were searching for, this also provided users who may like to trade DVDs to contact each other

That link is still there. It's called 'Buy at Amazon'. There, you'll get plot synopsis, and people's reviews.

I can see what Tom means though. Eventually, he'll make it so anyone can add their own description/plot outline, and it will feel like more direct community involvement.

The full list of all people that have an itme, or want that item, would be nice to bring back, as i mentioned perhaps on a seperate page.

I like the small thumbnails of actors. But I miss a short info about a movie.

I actually liked how the movies are presented. I just can't wait for the opportunity to add non-R1/R2 movies.

i much prefer to have, like Robert, a picture of the dvd's artwork as well as a short info or a story byline about the movie --- about the reviews: perhaps Tom, you could pursuade subscribers to write their story line about a movie (ie, not a review, just a summary of what the movie is about). if you need staff, as a 'founding member', please count me in, i'd be interested in doing that!

Somewhere halfway between what we have now, and what Robert suggests, would be ideal, I think.

But, on balance, I do actually prefer the new layout.

Wow, I wasn't a fan of the amazon stuff and I'm quite suprised at how many people enjoyed that feature. I just figure that if you want to know a synopsis or read some reviews you would actually visit amazon [the link to amazon is still in tact] or wikipedia.

Getting rid of the amazon content should open up this site and force our users to rely on the reviews of other users on this site.

I really like the new way it's presented with the thumbnails and whatnot. To each his own I guess.

user reviews are nice, but arent always helpful telling you what a movie is all about. A plot synopsis is different and should be included as well. Perhaps make a way for users to submit their plot synopsis, and moderators, not just Tom, will choose/vote for which is the best, and make sure no major plot spoilers are revealed. or maybe just allow multiple posting for plot summaries, similar to how IMDB does it?

oh, and fully editable/customizable cast list, complete with name of the characters that the actors played, would be nice. I know its in the works for future release, but i can't wait for it. Some of those cast lists that are sorted alphabetically are so bad (see Matrix sequels and the Lord of Rings trilogy, for example).

I have added the description back in, I've solved the issue of it taking up too much room by having a more link to reveal the full description.

Thanks Tom for adding the description
I really appreciate it there. It makes my life a lot easier when trying to select a movie

Thanks again and I think that "Doudouce55รขโ‚ฌ? would be a great at doing reviews
