do you juge people by their looks? be truthful please

i do some times

Yes, I try not to, but its human nature to put people into boxes, as there are simply too many people on the planet to get to know everyone individually!

Yeh, not everyone can have the same tastes as you and it probs triggers an automatic dislike or like.

That is true but do u always push them away or at least give them a chance? Because i hated my best friend then i got to know him and well we are best friends

I sometimes judge people by their grammar and spelling mistakes *hint hint*

sometimes, but I try to be objective whan I know better the person who's in front of me

Well, first impressions are lasting, but I try and look beyond the exterior to the interior if I have the opportunity to get to know them better.

No not really, i accept everyone:D
unless i hear stuff about them then thats a different story

Like becca says, normally its all about the 1st impression.
Its better if people came ( in my case, girls if we talking about love ) with the both package, but... love doesn't pick faces. At least not to me.
Regarding to people in general, i´m used of being judge for my way of dressing... its "normal", but... along the way I meat intelligent people and those are the ones to keep in our life...
I don´t mind being judge by my looks or the way i dress... as long has they do it from far ( in that case i just ignore ) and not in my face ( in that case... well they made a wrong move :p ).

So you judge people based on hear-say? I'd say that's just about the same thing as judging someone based on how they look.

ok yea i do...not all the time thou...is just a nature to everyone to do once in a while...
but i rather actually not like to judge.
its not good-i perfer to have friends.
i get along wit all types of ppl
dont judge as much as i used to-only to pll i hate =/

No, I judge people by their spelling and grammar skills.

i try not to judge but its in my nature but i dont think its right at first ill judge but as weird as i am ill try to humanize the person by talking to them but what ever you like to do hey im not here to judge
Deleted user

umm pretty much everyone does it, no question.
its not RIGHT but dont say you never have done it.
usually i do, but once i get to know someone, i'll stop doing that.

I try not to, but if they have dirty greasy hair, or look like they haven't brushed their teeth for awhile - forget it. Prejudge

Biologically speaking we all do. We perceive people who are good looking to have better genes. We all want to have attractive babies.
Though if a man isn't attractive but is charming and interesting it's easy for me to look past poor physical attributes. But if it's hygiene related, then no, go fuck yourself, I'll judge the shit out of you.

Sometimes yes, even though I try not to.

I honestly dont judge people, I like people that have their own unique style or looks. I know you mean phyiscally more then choice looks, but I am not considered a good looking person so I am not going to judge others who many dont consider good looking.

ill b honest ive nvr judged anyone until ive known them for awhile, then i make my decisions

I honestly don't, and I think it's the uggliest and most terrible human "quality". However as someone has already mentioned, it's in human nature not to get close to different people and try to get close to what you could call a "normal" or "usual" person in eyes of society. Not being an example of a top model, but being a pretty regular person, I find myself sometimes not interacting with different people when I could, and I blame myself for that, for you could find great friendships. And I did.

absolutely. but i also judge people on their character, work ethic and personality. nothing is set in stone, but my judgment is pretty reliable to date.

I don't judge them by how pretty or ugly they are but I do judge people by their general appearance. For example, they might look sloppy, nerdy or bitchy :P But seriously, appearance shouldn't stop us from talking to people because I have this guy friend who looks kinda little sloppy but he's really nice :)

Yes

i do sumtimes....i try not 2.....but the overall point is this:DNT EEEVVEERR JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER.....nd check this out.....mayb the one who u judge the most on da outside is the one who cn b your best friend.....its all about......CHANCES

I do, I know its wrong, but I do. Probably why I like celebs so much because they're pretty not because I love their bubbling personality.

Appearance is essence, so yes, I do.

truthh, is i did once-_-'

her. but appoligizedd.

No I like to try and get along with anyone I don't care how the person looks all I care about is if the person is friendly and not acting like they are better then everyone else.

I admire the honesty in this thread.
I try not to, but even if I do judge someone at first I just can't stand it when it's a nasty person and find myself looking forward to seeing them when it's a nice person. Most celebrities don't look that glamorous to me, though. I mean they conform to this one image when there are so many ways to bring out your personality in your appearance.

i did not read all the comments but it seems like that question USUALLY makes people think of the less beautiful people-- i know that accepting or rejecting someone on basis of looks is seen as bad. people sometimes say ''beauty is in the eye of the beholder'' that is a true statement. take a baby from it's mother and carry it down a hall where 20 women dressed the same as the mother are standing. i believe the baby is most likely going to pick the mother even if beautiful women are there also. you may ask ''does this prove anything? the answer ''only that you read he whole reply''-------------really though we do at least comment if we see either a very handsome man or a very beautiful woman.

When my hair was blue, the 'suits' avoided me. When my head was shaved little old ladies avoided me. When I wore a tie the punks (and my co-workers) avoided me. When I wore a straw hat and a sunflower t-shirt... I was having too much fun and wasn't paying attention.
Still, I do judge people by how they look, based on contextual situations. I think this is just a typical metro life paranoia. Still, I'm pretty apathetic about my own judgments. They guy who has prison tattoos indication that he has killed someone... and he is sitting on the bus bench... meh... going to sit down next to him. We all have to sit, we all have to wait, we all have to live.
I'm also pretty fine with people judging me by my grammar and spelling (both of which are terrible). I spend too much time in my own head and I would rather people think that I'm stupid and uneducated then read too much into my words or take me too seriously. Textual language is just another wrapper we put on thoughts as a way to express those thoughts. I think I would rather finger paint... :)

How dead is it here that a 10 month old thread gets resurrected and its still only had 5 replies in a week! This used to be against the rules, bumping old threads I mean.

Um, a bit. Every time I see someone's tag sticking out of their shirt I deduct points. Shirts and blouses that aren't ironed absolutely kill me too. V-necks on guys are absolutely horrible too. Though truth be told, I judge people for wearing v-necks in general. Ugh, and some people obviously don't sort out their clothes before they wash and that just looks horrible. I get weirded out if I can see someone's bra through their shirt. People with dirty fingernails kinda gross me out too. Oh and if I see people wearing the same exact outfit two days in a row, I freak out too. Unless it's like a party that goes through the night or something, that's totally okay.
I also don't like ballet flats. And people that go out to eat in athletic shorts and t-shirts. It always makes it look like I'm the one in error by overdressing. Wedges on anyone except for me are also kinda odd looking.
Generally people who give off the impression of not looking at a mirror before they leave their house, I judge them.
But other than that, no, not really.

This used to be against the rules, bumping old threads I mean.
While it's true that on most forums necro-ing an older topic is against the rules, here on Listal it's preferred you continue a discussion somewhere where the foundation's already been laid out. Also, with topics in places like the Listal Feedback forum, it's nice to continue a year-or-two old discussion because we can contrast and compare the old and new ideas - if we just started a new thread, it would lack the thoughts and ideas of antiquity.
But other than that, no, not really.
What do you think about wearing the same letter jacket everyday to classes? =P

Well, I don't always wash jackets everyday. If it's one of those outer layer jackets that you only use outside cuz it's cold, probably not that often. If it's one of those that is often close to your skin and is worn everyday, I'd recommend washing it every week, two weeks max. But that's just me. This problem is easily avoided by rotating several different jackets throughout the week.
If it doesn't smell or look visibly dirty, I wouldn't notice enough to care though. I mean, I would notice, and I would frown upon it a bit, but eh... as long as it matches your current outfit, I won't judge you too much.

I try not to, but everyone does.

Yes, absolutely... I'll then generally say hello, ask how he/she is doing tonight, and ask him/her what they'd like to drink. However, regardless of my covert judgements I try to greet everyone with a smile and with the hope that by the time he/she leaves we're both happy they walked in the door and look forward to seeing each other again soon.
Shutting the hell up now and then and really watching/listening to someone helps too;)
Seems to work out pretty well.
Judging people is human-nature; it's how our brains work (schemas and such) and it's a way we assess our surroundings. Go with it, listen to yourself, listen to the person in front of you, and allow yourself to be surprised now and then, for better and for worse.

I'd lie if i said no, but I try to not to do so.., hope i can get rid of that habit someday.

I most certainly do. And I'm often right...

Oh yes I do ;D
Looks is(?) important to me. Or maybe not important, but I like people who takes care of theme selves. It's just disgusting to see people with dirty hands/ clothes... And how you dress shows what kinda person you are, what you prefer and so on...
P.S. Sorry if there are any grammar mistakes ;D
