Dissapointing Johnny Depp

I know some people have and I know I have too. I have been really dissapointed with Johnny Depp. I thought he was dull in The Tourist, I wasn't impressed with him in Alice in Wonderland, and Rango I havent seen but I wish he would go back and do more of his thing like in Sweeny Todd and Eward Scissorhands. And yes I did like him in Pirates 4 even though I didnt like the movie, but I feel like he has been dissapointing me too much. So am I the only one who feels this way or does someone else see this too. I did love him in Public Enenmies last movie I actual loved him in

He is overrated in my opinion. Yeah he can play the "weird" roles, but somehow even his oddball ones are getting boring. Case in point, Alice in Wonderland. Though that whole movie was awful.

Agree with both of you, in the recent movies I have grown tired of him. Kinda.
In PotC it was just the same as in the 3 prequels so the acting was still nice but not very different.
And geez, Alice in Wonderland really was a disappontment.
In my opinion he should have acted less over-the-top and more psycho-crazy with less make-up. I dunno if that would have saved the film though...
Maybe he should do more interesting complex roles again like in his earlier films.

The last movie I really liked him in was Public Enemies

D: Wow, I didn't notice until you pointed it out, but he is kind of living off of nostalgic feelings of his past movies. That's the only reason he's selling tickets right now. :/

I've been disappointed by Depp for a few years now. He's made some decent movies, but nothing really great in my opinion. I'm sick of seeing him in every Tim Burton movie, I don't care about the Pirates movies anymore (one was enough), and The Tourist looked terrible and by all accounts apparently is. The only film of his I feel a need to see this year is The Rum Diary, and that's mostly because I enjoyed the book.
I didn't care much for Public Enemies either, but to each their own.

Guess some people think they deserve better performances hahaha. Ever think that he wants to do some roles that he doesn't have to go all out on? I think he's wanting to live his life with his family, but at the same time act...of course. I think he's been doing great still, but that's how I feel.

His last great performance was in Jarmusch's Dead Man.

I agree with everyone who says he's boring
I think he has no range at all
