Disney taking over Star Wars?

JPHOLT 11 years, 6 months ago at Oct 31 9:57 -
Just read a story that made me have mixed feelings. Apparently, Disney will take over the Star Wars saga. You can read the story here. m.yahoo.com/w/ygo-frontpage/lp/story/2796661/coke.bp?.tsrc=tmobustoday&.intl=us&.lang=en-us

What are your feelings about this?

Oops, sorry man! Didn't see that you'd already posted something on this before creating my thread. I can delete mine if you like. (Does it matter? I don't know? Are there points awarded to thread-authors when people post on them? Anyway, didn't mean to stomp on any toes. Just let me know.)

Anyhow, we're still the only two people talking about this! How can that be? Ha, maybe people just don't give a shit (like me, actually. I never bothered to watch Episode I or II.)

I hope Bobba Fett is in them because let's be honest, he's the hottest thing about all six movies.

A little more serious: I don't know what to expect. New films? What will they be about? Who will be in them? How will it be Star Wars without the story and characters we already know? I wonder if they'll be using extended universe stuff. I guess I just can't wait to see what they come up with, even if it's bad. And I'm fairly certain Bobba Fett survived according to EU so he better be in them.

@ Xanadon't: No problem and NO need for you to delete your thread. There is plenty of room for both.

I thought there would be more comments about this too.

@ Mackenzi: I'm hoping the movies will be be at least based on the entended unversive stuff too. Timothy Zahn wrote the Thrawn Trilogy (consisting of "Heir to the Empire","Dark Force Rising", and "The Last Command") which, alongside "Dark Empire", began an explosion of Expanded Universe media.

Even though I own theses books, I haven't read them, but I have been told they are good.

I think Bobba Fett is a cool character. It would be cool to see him in another movie too.

It's early days to get into a discussion beyond pure speculation, plus it's hard to take interest in anything Star Wars related these days considering the franchise's history over the past decade.

I'm very inclined to agree, personally, but I guess I expected more hullabaloo about this around here.

Gosh, please don't tell me that the average person is now as cynical about BIG-TIME Hollywood as I am. Or worse yet, that I'm only averagely cynical. This used to be a point of pride with me, you see.

Found another story about this topic. Here's the link: vintagestock.myvideostore.com/content/news/index.html?client=vintagestock&id=3566

Will not see or buy merch. It's all business at this point, and I'll take my business elsewhere. There are plenty of people that are good at sci-fi and making shows and movies still.

Duck Vador and Snow White and the 7 Ewoks. Can't wait. LOL

Since we're sharing links, a slightly less serious (but still terrifyingly possible) take: www.cracked.com/video_18493_a-sneak-peek-at-disneys-upcoming-star-wars-movies.html

Not enough Bobba Fett talk though.

I agree with Yotsuya, it's only about money at this point. And if that's the only motivation who knows what the films will actually be about.

@ Mackenzi: Thanks for the link. I can only imagine some of the ideas being discussed, both good and bad.

Boba Fett just might be the coolest thing ever. Period. He´s my all time favorite character in cinema. I just hope that if they bring him back then he should be brought back in the first scene of the movie/tv-series. I can already see him escaping from the Sarlacc Pitt.

I'd be happy if Disney agrees to finish the Knights of the Old Republic trilogy with Obsidian.

@Mr. Saturn: Agreed!

I read that JJ Abrams has been approached to direct Episode VII - that is really crossing the streams between Star Trek and Star Wars - but I wonder if there will be a cross over movie - it would be kind of cool :)

JPHOLT 11 years, 3 months ago at Jan 26 13:47 -
@Phillydude, I thought the same thing!

It has been confirmed that JJ Abrams will be producing and directing Star Wars:Episode VII. While I am thrilled about this, I do wonder how many flares are going to be in this film.
