Discover hidden gems

No, this isnt about finding hidden gems in Diablo II ;)

Its about finding games that may or may not have sold well, but are completely ignored on listal for some odd reason (3 or less people tracking the game) but you feel its a 9 or 10 out of 10 type of game.

So if you know of a 'hidden gem' of a game, old or new, post it here and say why others should check it out.

I'll start:

F1 Challenge '99-02 - PC version

A bit of history, EA Sports had a very good F1 series from official 1999 to 2002 seasons, but for 2003 season, they lost the FIA Formula One official license to rival Sony's F1 series. When the developers announced they'd make one more title, F1 Challenge '99-02, many thought it would be just a compilation release of all previous titles, but ISI, the developers of the series, went all out and made it into possibly the greatest F1 game released to date. They went back thru all seasons, and made every car perfectly accurate, gave it real-life physics, sounds, racing teams, and even down to every tiny variation in tracks for each of those seasons. And best of all, they made nearly everything fully customizable thru text files, causing this game to have a cult following among racing simulation enthusiasts, with many custom mods available on the internet.

If you're a fan of Formula One, or realistic racing simulators, you owe it to yourself to go check out this title.

Everything from '74-'75 F1 season, to latest 2006-2007 seasons, to mods that turn the game in BMW Racing series, Champ Car series, or Sports Car challenge.

Muppet Race Mania (PS1)
A good little racing game from the 90s.

Setttlers Heritage of Kings (PC) RTS
A vastly overlooked RTS game.

Muppet Monster Adventure (PS1) Platform
I cant help that I loved Muppet games; like Sypro but with Kermit.

Disney Magical Racing Tour (PS1)
One of the best character racing games I've ever played...all my favourite disney characters...only second to Mariokart in its genre.

Thanks, I've sorted it now. I can't guarantee everyone will love the muppetness as much as I, but everyone who I have suggested the Settlers game to has agreed it was overlooked; I bought it for ยฃ2 ($4) at a supermarket a few weeks ago.

Solar Jetman for the NES. The physics for this game were incredible. You controlled the pitch, yaw, & roll of your craft while battling your own momentum. Pretty heady stuff.

Apparently only 6 people have played Half-life 2: Episode Two on listal. I think that's akin to treason!

No one has played Phantom Crash for the XBox. I blame Mechassault for overshadowing it and Armored Core for being more customizable. Still, it has the best music of any mech game I've ever played.

GodHand for the Ps2

It's so over the top that it's enjoyable. The camera a little clunky at times though.

Ehrgeiz for the PS1. An inovative and bscure fighter for the play station. It gives players the chance to finaly give yuffie a buster sword upside the head though, and that alone is worth having a look. The dungeon mode is kinda fun too.

Wolfenstein 3D for good ol`DOS. This is one of those games that`s just as fun today as when it came out. Best part is that the Nazi`s scream at you in german (everything translates back to english).

Castlevania II: Simon's Quest for the NES. For all those Castlevania fans here, I suggest you find a copy (or much more likely play it on an emulator). This is where the series first broke away from the arcade style of game play to the more adventure RPG style it embodies today.

Project: Snowblind for the X-Box or PS2. Somehow this completely slipped under the radar when it came out. I gotta say, I loved it. The story is unique, the game play is exciting and the graphics are really pleasing. For avid FPS players, it`s certainly worth checking out.

Its a fighting game created by the doujin group TYPE-Moon. They made Tsukihime and Fate/Stay Night. Both of which have been made into anime. Both of which were originally h-games. So, atleast there's a reason for the crappy anime adaptations, but what can you expect when they try to cram several different storylines in to one.

Oh yeah and since these are fan-made games, the chances of you finding them in your language and in a store in your country are slim to none. Lucky for you there's a sub group out there that has made patches for these games.

I really thought Bishi Bashi Special on PS1 was a great game which it feels like a rare game as it didn't really take off well I really think Konami should of put more effort in advertising it in Europe. The game was only released in Europe and Japan I am glad I still own it but I still wonder why this game was not released in the US. Anyway the game is a party game features many different style games I think this is where Nintendo's Warioware got the idea of there game from Bishi Bashi. I was annoyed that the other 2 Bishi Bashi games never made a release in Europe.

Damn this is somewhat of an old thread. I'll post again for the hell of it.

Gekido(PSone) Pure entertaining two-player co-op. Graphics looked horrendous even back in that generation.
Godhand(PS2) Over the top action. Makes you feel like you have some type of "Hancock"-ish power. Fun but not a easy game to pick up and play. Manily b/c the camera is one of your worst enemies.
The Last Stand & The Last Stand 2 (This may not technically count) This is a flash game and man is it addictive. It's reminiscent of the survival games of yesteryear. Simple point and click to shot, but the real challenge comes in your ability to manage the daylight hours and pull off crucial head shots.
Can be found at Armorgames

Hope you all enjoy the gems that I bestowed upon you.

My favorites:

Betrayal at Krondor - Got lost in the switch-over from floppy-disk to CD ROM, or I think it would have been a much bigger game than it was.

Anvil of Dawn. Love this game to bits.

Loom. One of the best Lucasfilm games ever.

Kings Bounty. What eventually became the biggest series of New World Computing: Heroes of Might and Magic.
