Disappearing Images

There seems to be a serious problem with images disappearing on lists. When I go to some of my lists (and the lists of friends), I find that many images are no longer appearing. If I click 'edit note' and then click 'save' on an entry with images, the images come back after I click.
Unfortunately, if I leave the page, the images are gone again when I come back. Mods, if there's anything you can do about this issue, please help. It's a really terrible situation that screws up A LOT of lists.

If stuff is just not showing up, unfortunately, its probably a technical error and something only Tom can fix or explain.
But I'll take a look and see if there is anything I can do. Can you please post a link to an example?

You can see it even in your own lists. Didn't you post at least one photo for every movie in your 'Fashion Over the Decades' lists? I remember seeing one under each entry.
For example, there are only few images still showing up in your 20s list now =(.

That's so weird. They all show up fine for me. I've also looked through a bunch of your lists and the images show up fine for me as well.
Have you tried emptying your browsers cache?
Sometimes when images aren't loading right, that works for me.
Has this been going on for a while or is it just recent?

Hmmm...maybe this is just a problem on my end. I just noticed it happening today. It's frustrating, but also a relief because if everyone had this issue, it would screw up the whole site big time. Thanks for checking. I'll see what I can do.

I do see one or more pics per film, too, in www.listal.com/list/fashion-in-1920s-films

I got the same problem like Quote Unquote since yesterday, but just with Chrome, Mozilla works fine.

Now I'm pretty sure it's a Google Chrome problem.
Thanks for checking and clarifying that, Coby.

My wife has the same issue, she can't see images in lists that I can. We both use Chrome.

Everything is fine here, and I'm using Firefox. Without actually checking, I do believe it's a problem with Chrome, as I've had problems with that in the past.

For once I'm really glad I never bothered to download Google Chrome.

Comment removed by OJ: can't be bothered
Further edit: Just happened to wife on Firefox. She switched so she could work on a list, and boom... so poop goes that theory.
Further further edit: and now I've been hit too, perhaps it's something to do with the price of eggs.

It appears that I may have found an answer, rather than being an issue with chrome (which is the typical stock answer to any issue), it seems that it may be a problem connected to AdBlock. I haven't tested it over a period of time, but when paused the images load normally, unpause it and reload... gone again. Hope this helps. The other version (ABP) seems to cause issues with hitting the back button on any sites hosted by Amazon, not that I have tested it with this new issue anyway.
Edit: ABP also does it, but this is because both use EasyList, which you can unsubscribe from, but it's the best list on offer.

Yeah, you're right, I disabled AdBlock Plus on Listal and everything works just fine now. Thanks Onion Jack!

A heartfelt thank you to you, Onion (by the way, I love your user name) for further clarifying. It turns out ABP was the cause of my problem as well and I only needed to disable that in my Google Chrome.

yeah i had this same problem just unclick Ad Block Plus and now everything works fine only problem is the dirty ads on every page now

Ugh! I'd been having this problem too. I really love AdBlock Plus though. It's so much nicer without the ads

I only turn it off to check my progress, and then put it straight back on as I work on lists. You can see things that you have just done anyway, so there is no need to have it turned off all the time. The problem is much worse if you are browsing other lists though. I have to be honest in saying that it has reduced my browsing efforts, I just hate running with ads, and I'll do anything I can to avoid doing so. Site admin can do all they can to make sure that ads are clean, but malware can easily slip through when it comes to advertisements, which means for me... adblock is a necessity.

It seems that there has been an update to Easylist, my wife could see the pictures (she gets updated before me) so I forced an update through on mine and up all the pictures popped, so if you still can't see the images then update your Adblock filters now :)

I assume this problem is happening because adblock thinks they are ads. Does this only happen on list pages? For logged in members there are very few ads shown on this site so I don't see why it's necessary to run it anyway, I believe you can just whitelist certain sites rather than disabling the entire addon.

Yes it was happening on list pages only, images were still visible in other areas of the site. There had clearly been an error in an update code, but like I said, it has been updated again in the last hour, so it's all good :)
I think the necessity part is more of a preference for me, I am generally overly safe on t'internet, and from past experience ads are one thing that is difficult to control outside of just blocking them all.
I do appreciate that you have very few, and I was very surprised at how cleanly you have incorporated those that you have chosen, so fair play on that.
You can simply whitelist sites but I just paused and unpaused where necessary until the problem was sorted out.
