Deleted Pictures

This has happened to me a few times.

I have posted new pictures before anyone else has posted said pictures only to find a few days later my pictures have been deleted because someone has posted the exact same ones. Why? I posted them first surely the duplicate should be deleted not the original.

It depends on size and quality. Who posted first is not always the primary concern of the moderators.

Posting a picture first does not guarantee it will be the kept in the case of duplicates. Quality takes priority. The images that replaced yours were bigger, so were considered better. Basically everything Onion Jack said.

We recommend posting your images in the highest quality form in order to avoid deletion in the future.

BTW, if you are like me and google for images, mind you that not always Google Images presents the images with highest resolution in the search results. Sometimes you have to click (the link on the right of resolution info) to find out there are other versions of the same image with a better resolution.

It's also good, if you use Google images search, to go ahead and set your search size larger than 640 or 800 x whatever. This will filter out the smaller images right away. I always try and find the largest images available with the best quality; it helps to insure that someone else won't come behind you and upload a larger one and report yours for deletion.
