Deleted pictures

Hi guys,
sorry to bother you,
I'd like to know the reason why images 4573345 and 4573355 (animated gifs, screenshots) of Buffy the Vampire Slayer were deleted, 4 hours ago.
The notice just links to reason: other.

Just to make clear: I read the Image posting rules, but those pictures were not duplicates, that I aware of, and they are not porn or nude.

I can't answer your question because I'm not sure, it's for the Listal "Moderators" to answer too. But the same thing happens to me all the time, I've had loads of pictures deleted such as screenshots of the film and there is no nudity in them at all. I guess if you give people a little bit of power they think they rule the world..

The O.P. I have no idea and most of the time why an image is or is not deleted is fully in the hands of the moderator. You would have to ask the moderator directly.


@beth As far as I can tell you have had three images deleted all for the reason that they were Photoshopped. I have had twice that many deleted by fellow moderators.

Well if that's a rule, not to add Photoshopped images on Listal, then that means you'd have to delete the majority of the images on Listal because most images are photoshopped today. But I don't want any arguments I just have my opinion that's all:)

I'm having the same problems lately. Random pictures that comply have been deleted for "other" or "invalid" reasons... There is no recourse, explanation, or moderator name given.

Whats the deal?

@CelShader I deleted two of your images. The first was not an image of the person. The second was a photoshop meme image. Quite a few of those have been reported on the grounds of being offensive.

Fan art, photoshop images, random internet meme images should be things ether left off the site or stored in your own images.

Still, it would be nice if there was a better way for Listal members to see which moderator made that judgement call.

Yes there are tons of images that violate these basic rules and moderators can only do so much to stem the tide. So, I'm sorry if images rules feel inconstant when in fact we do work pretty hard to make sure all the moderators are on the same page.

For manips, gifs, fanarts, collages of images and other photoshopped images that are not released by the official production for movies/tv shows..... please post those in your personal profile gallery. Thank you. We apologize for any confusion.

I know they are harmless but the amount of fan made arts/graphics that could be made are essentially unlimited and therefore would clutter up the gallery

Another reason images are often deleted is sometimes the thumbnail does not show up properly in the gallery to other users. Another mod and I discovered that sometimes it will show up for the user that posts it but not for any other users.

We try our best to delete every image that is in violation of the rules but there have been over 4.5 million images posted on Listal and only so many mods, so we are not going to catch everything. However, if you see something you thing should be deleted please help us by reporting it. Thank you in advance.

Just to set the record straight, do you include any animated images in the types of pictures that should be stored in your own pictures rather than in the movie's section?

As to moderator's name, I've read in some old posts that there were reasons not to include the name link any longer.

In my view, what is really needed is a more detailed reason for deletion, not just "reason: Other". For instance, "thumbnail didn't show properly", and so on, according to each issue, so that users can understand where the problem really lies and maybe avoid the same problem in the future.

^ Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about that. We can delete images but we can't change the structure of the site. Only mods (and the user who reported it) can view the entire explanation of why an image was deleted, if one was given. Only Tom might be able to change that. However we don't delete images for no reason, so if an image gets deleted there is a good reason and if you have no idea why, then please just ask.

@Zaghnal if a thumbnail images does not show up for me, I delete it. That's all. I assume no one else can see it either. It's very annoying to look through a gallery and see a bunch of blank thumbnails. In the past I have checked with another user who is also a mod now to make sure it wasn't just me who couldn't see the thumbnails and she confirmed that they did not show up for her either, therefore it was not just me/my computer.

Yes, I think the reason a user cannot see which mod deleted their image is because there have been a lot of issues with porn and offensive/overtly sexual images or spam being uploaded onto this site (which is not the purpose of it) and mods getting harassed for deleting them by the users who posted them. However if it was just users, like you, who understood the rules and genuinely wanted to know why their images were deleted then it would be great to have it.

@ The O.P., sorry forgot to answer one of your questions. Yes, my understanding of the rules is that an animation counts as a photoshop/altered image, but that is not set in stone and therefore another mod may or may not agree.

It's ok for me, I understand a little better why some images are removed.
