The original Gojira/Godzilla was released in Japan on November 3rd, 1954. It was, however, edited and released in the US as "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" with scenes removed and scenes added - the additional content featuring the lovely and talented Raymond Burr!
Alas, it was not until 2004 that the original Japanese version came stateside. The IMDb reflects this release date. However, as with many video games, I feel it's important to give the original Japanese release date in the absence of being able to assign specific release dates for specific regions.
And alas, I cannot edit the date at the link provided.

1954 being the first original release year,
and the US release date (May 7, 2004) on the right-hand side.
I don't know whether Listal keeps track of the original release complete date, as opoosed to just year.
