Daily/Sunday Comics

So who here actually cuts out daily and/or Sunday comics and saves them up? I recently found out my neighbors get the daily newspapers and have capitalized on this. I have a little photo album where I put a cut out of The Amazing Spider-man and The Phantom (they're one on top of the other) along with the dates. Spider-Man has just gotten into a new story arc (probably about Morbius), so I think I'll understand this plot a little better having started from the beginning. Oh, and Sally Forth has been very high quality as far as I can remember.
Does anyone follow the comics in the newspapers? What's your opinion of them? I make this thread under the assumption that not every country in the world has the same daily/Sunday comics, but that certain ones are in most places.

hah, used cut out comics and hang em' around the student newspaper office when I worked for a college newspaper. Shoe was always one of my very favorites... as well as Outland and Wizard of Id. Dunno if any of those are even still syndicated. Been a while since I've had any newspaper subscription.

I don't believe I've ever heard of those! I don't know about The Wizard of Id but upon checking the other two aren't syndicated anymore.

I too used to cut them out of the newspaper when I had regular access to one. The subscription rate is too expensive now that I'm on my own so I rarely see them anymore. But the comics have always been the best part of the daily paper. ;)
Favorites that should still be around: Get Fuzzy, Foxtrot, Pearls Before Swine, Zits, Bizarro, Ballard Street, One Big Happy, Pickles, Dilbert
Ones I love & miss: Calvin & Hobbes, Bloom County/Outland/Opus, The Far Side, Boondocks
Last time I picked up a newspaper (last year probably) Shoe & Wizard of Id were both in it. *shrug*

Pearls Before Swine is one of my favorites too. I love the Angry Bob stories. Characters like Rat and the crocodiles are interesting and creative. I'm just not a huge fan of the occasional author insertion - at least from what I've read.

Oops! I meant Shoe and Outland aren't being created anymore. Just got confused about the terminology.

I take it by "author insertion" you mean the horrible wordplay ones where Rat threatens to beat Pastis in the last frame every time...yeah those suck. Not a big fan of the Crocs either, since most of the time it's always the same joke (but sometimes they're ok). Everything else about Pearls is golden though.
Yeah Outland (1989-1995) started out as Bloom County (1980-1989), then took a break before coming back one more time as Opus (2003-2008). Apparently creator Berke Breathed decided he didn't want to continue with the characters anymore, and has gone on to write children's books. If you're interested in checking any of it out I think most of it has been collected into books. It was almost always brilliant.
