custom lists...

I've created a few private custom lists, and I'm starting to wonder some things:
1) Is there any way to look at an item and see which list(s) of mine it's in?
2) Is there *any* other way to delete an item from a list? Once there are a lot of items on a list, it becomes really painful to have to drag it to the top, if it starts at the bottom.
3) If/when I remove an item from my collection completely, shouldn't it be deleted from any custom lists also, or is that by design?
Maybe I'm just not getting what these lists are supposed to be *for*?

1) Good point, I will add it to the product page.
2) I could see how that could become a problem :) I could add a delete box at the bottom but the main purpose of the custom lists are for short lists, using tags + the main list might be a better option.
3) Well thats part of the point of them to list things that may not go on your main collection lists.
The main point of the custom lists is to share themed lists e.g. 'My favorite movies' etc so you can compare with other people. You could do this as well by tagging a item with 'favorite' so there is some overlap with the main lists but I am thinking of ways of tying them all together but I am not 100% sure how yet :) I thought quite a bit about this but cannot think of a good solution yet.
The custom lists are also orderable but I guess this could potentially be added to the main lists as well. The other difference is that items can be in multiple custom lists but only exist in owned/wanted/used once.

1) Cool, thanks. :)
2) Gotcha.
3) Ah. OK.
Yeah, I think I'm confused about how/when to use lists vs. tags.
As I mentioned, my custom lists are private; tags can't be, right?
One of the larger custom lists I have is called "on headboard" - it's how I keep track of which of my owned books are in the bedroom as opposed to in the library/guest room. Other lists keep track of who I borrowed a book/DVD from, etc. It just didn't seem to make a lot of sense to use tags for things like that, but as some of these lists get longer, they get a little unweildy, so maybe I should rethink that.

That actually seems like the perfect use of tags.
Tags are for classification of items but they can also be used to organise things the site doesn't have an option for (like location).
I should add the option to set tags as private and also add groupings so you can have a location group etc..
