Cropping and something a bit related

gay dude 12 years ago at May 2 10:00 -
As cropping are against the rules in a general way, I have some questions about this.
Is there anything about cropping pictures of a person as that's the only image you find of them? Directors especially have less images of them and you might find the only image of them to be with other people.
Is there also anything about cropping a picture of a person as to frame the person's face in the small square thumbnail as you would see them from a movie's page?

One way to deal with this maybe is to have a online cropping tool and the cropped image would link to the un-cropped image. This would probably be difficult to implement.

Related to cropping, this other thought is concerning group pictures or even pictures in general. Perhaps instead of having a image attached to a person, an image could have multiple people attached to it instead. You treat the image like other kinds of media such as film and music. As images are in higher supply, giving people the ability to tag them as well would need more consideration.

My last thought is that I think I read somewhere that a violation of these rules would result in a 3 week or a 3 month ban or something. I could maybe deal with a week ban maybe. I suppose there is a way to appeal this right? I wouldn't intentionally violate the rules.

If that is the only image you can find of a person then it's fine to post a cropped image. We are talking about images that have already been posted. For instance Victoria's Secret releases a full length version as well as a cropped version, you cannot post both.

Perhaps you can try a reverse Google Image Search to find a full picture.

As for the ban, you will not be banned unless you make a habit of breaking the rules. And no, if the mods and administrators deem you suspended you do not get to appeal that at this time.

If you are intentionally trying to follow the rules, you have nothing to worry about. Users who get banned are the ones who habitually break or ignore the rules as well as warnings from mods.
