A complaint I must bring to everyone's attention...

Okay, one thing I must bring to everyone's attention.

I do NOT copy and paste my reviews - I write each and every one of them with care and dedication. In the past I've had at least 5 users say something like
"You're a fraud" or
"Why do you copy and paste your review?"

Quite frankly, I'm sick of it! Those people who have accused me, you know who you are. You have all apologised and I am grateful, but I get far too many and now it's down to the point of offense. I am a genuine, dedicated review writer who spends at least 2-3 hours writing a single review! Accusing me of plagiarism is logically enough taken with gross offence!

Lots of people have complimented by review writing, and perhaps I get these users accusing me because of the quality and quantity. Understandable...but if you're going to accuse me of plagiarism then provide proof!

How do I get the time? It's a hobby - I even spend free time at school writing reviews!

Why am I so dedicated? I started writing reviews in 2003 and realised that it's a medium to state your opinion clearly and share it with others. I get support from family and friends who mainly value my opinion, and if they don't understand my opinion they simply read my review. My vocabulary also expands with my review writing to lift my results at school. In the future I plan to be a filmmaker, so I also want to have the ability to critically analyse flops or mediocre movies so I do not succumb to these flaws in my future career.

I'm posting this message on the forum to prevent more people throwing accusations in my direction. It's demoralising and saps my enthusiasm. You can endlessly search the net for a supposed source that I supposedly plagiarised from - but you will never find anything as I take pride in presenting my own opinion in my own words. I also post my reviews on the website Flixster, and that's the only place you'll find reviews identical to the ones I've posted.

Thanks for the support. It's people like you that I adore conversing with on this site. Lots of people are shocked that someone of my age has such an interest in films. My parents even sent me to a psychiatrist to have me tested for Asperger's Disorder...as it turns out films are just my natural obsession rather than a disorder.

About to post more reviews as I type this...

I'd never read any of your reviews, until now. They make good reading, and are of higher quality than many others I've seen on here - keep up the good work!

I dont know why someone would even think you're a fraud. Unless someone has proof and link to another site's review written by someone else, they should shut up and keep their thoughts to themselves. Its probably just a case of jealousy towards you.

Keep it up, Caboose. I actually look forward to every one of your reviews. You got a real talent for it, and can see you eventually having your own column published.

I was shocked that people didn't supply any proof, and instead just throw out accusations because of my obvious dedication. I'm guessing it is jealousy, yes. But the biggest insult is how blunt some people are. One user posted on my Indy IV review, saying "you copy and pasted this you fraud!" I deleted the comment eventually.

I shall keep writing my lengthy, detailed reviews!

btw, just seen Indy 4 this weekend, and your review is spot on.

p.s. dont want to start a feud on here, but if its the same person (or persons) posting such comments to your reviews, please dont hesitate to let any of us mods know who it is. Its a sign of disrespect to another member, so one of us should have a small word with them.

Theres always been a problem with reviews on this website. Content is what I'm mainly referring to. So some members don't know a good thing when its staring them in the face!

We got people who write one line, who write track lists for music, who write on films that haven't even been released and one kid (a naroot for the veterans!) actually copied and pasted reviews from IGN, Gamespot and other top gaming websites. He tried passing it off as his own work and I know for a fact that one of your accusers (as I saw the comments aswell) was one of the flagship members commenting and reporting on those reviews. So he was just being cautious as it has happened before.

Wow, I hear you on the quality of reviews on this site. I've seen people who've written two sentences, and have received votes!

After that incident it's understandable that it could raise some suspicion, but without providing evidence or a site I apparently copied from...I think it's just offensive.

I totally understand, It is very offensive. But for some members it wasn't without cause. They should have had evidence but sometimes you tend to think with your fingers and not with your common sense.

Ah the votes thing really kills me. Multiple accounts!!! It fucks me right off. Theres no point having a voting system if anyone can sign up to the site 6 or 7 times and just vote for their own stuff. For example, our 'top reviewer' is nothing more than a joke with at least three multiple accounts. How can 50 reviews of track lists (for shit albums!!) gain two votes a piece! It is beyond me!

Why anyone would even care is beyond me, so just don't mind the people calling you a fraud. Seriously, reviewers (the ones that do it for a profession) are the most disrespected and underpaid people in the world, so why anyone would hold a grudge against those skills is beyond me. I would know :'(

Gunza Blazin...OMG people actually make multiple accounts?! Then there is no glory, no honour, and no reward for reviewing if you're giving yourself credit to make yourself look good. In my opinion, that "Top Reviewer" doesn't even qualify on that list!

Moz....that's the thing, calling me a fraud is offensive. It's the same logic as being accused of plagiarising a book or something. Say you spend months and months, hours daily, on a novel...then it's released and people say you "copied and pasted" it! Same difference. Altogether my reviews could easily create a novel. On a Word document where all my reviews are saved there is over a thousand A4 pages! Hundreds of hours of work has gone into the reviews as a whole.

well, as i stated on different occassions already, your reviews are brilliant, in quality (well, at least after you got the "paragraph-thing" right :)) and quantity. don't let yourself get down by jealous folks. i think your note that most of those reviews already existed on another site is an important note, as i too was a little bit confused by the sheer mass of your lengthy reviews shortly after you created your user. so the only one you were copying from was you. and that's absolutely ok in my book. keep up the great work!

That's fair enough I guess. However some users (they know who they are) sucked up to me big time after making accusations (this was about a month ago when it first started)...implying that they are jealous.

Actually the reviews were copied and pasted, then after we found out they was from another site and kicked up a fuss. The user added those types of links in to make it seem 'more alright' even though they was plagiarising primarily. Yosho & Ichago were two of those members if I recall.

Well, the truth is, I write my reviews on WordPad, then I save them, and then I paste them... it's easier to prepare them on WordPad first, okay?!?
