Comments

Any way to keep track of them? Maybe have threaded comments so when someone responds to you you can be alerted?

I think threaded comments would give some extra organization to lists/reviews/etc. Three lists have even reached a hundred.

Since people might not want to be alerted every time someone responds to their comments, perhaps it can be like Suggestions where you're not alerted but you have it in your updates.

The only thing about threaded comments is that someone responding to multiple people will probably want to create a stand-alone comment.

I think what Pumpkinate means is comments made on lists that are not your own.

I have left comments on someone's list and have totally missed any response directed towards me just because I haven't gone back to that list to check. Meh... but I'm lazy and if I have voted for a list... I very rarely go back to see any new comments or changes.

I find that I use "Explore lists" to see what is new and like the little "Recent Comments" area. Even being able to expand that and see more would be helpful.

It is still rather awkward because if someone comments on my list it seems strange to follow up to that comment via the list and then have to go to that persons profile page and say "Hay, I responded to your comment about Charlies Angles Full Throttle" on my Greatest Actions films list."

SUGGESTION for a new feature:
when you're viewing another user's list directory, it would be good to see at a glance if you've commented on some of them by the presence of an icon next to them. (Maybe this feature would also include an icon to identify voted lists.)
Would it be interesting? Opinions?

I could go for something like that. Sign me up.

What about a "You and ___" thing like on Facebook where your common interests are detailed? I often find out months after I've started frequently communicating with a Listal-er that we have certain preferences in common.

The comments issue is why I typically reply to list comments I receive on the profile page for whoever commented. It would indeed be nice, however, if there was a way that we could be alerted when someone replies to a list comment that we have left. Just please don't let it be a "somebody commented on a list you commented on" thing, as I don't need to see every last comment on every list I've commented on. ;)

Funny, this subject came up earlier today between myself and Trebek.

I too would be down for the idea of seeing icons next to lists I've left comments on, but I think we'd need that in addition to the alerts for reply comments.

On another note, the number of comments automatically says zero whenever viewing a list of reviews.
