Coca-Cola Zero

ugh.. just an off-topic (can't be any worse than the PIE thread) but I just tried the new Coca-Cola Zero. I dont even know when it was released, i dont watch TV or commercials, so i'm not 'educated' on whats new and exciting in world of consumerism.
Anyways, a friend gave me a bottle of it and said to try it, that it tastes like Classic but with zero sugar and calories. So here I am at work, crank it open, and....
I've never tasted such horrid puss water before in my life. It tastes like if you took the nasty artificial taste of Diet Coke and mixed it with colgate toothpaste.
And the aftertaste is worse than a shot of Jaggermeister.
ugh.. i'm going back to water. H2O.

Really? I didn't think it was that bad (at least not as bad as diet coke)- but I was mixing mine with smirnoff black cherry

well, mixing Smirnoff with anything is bound to improve it.
Sadly, I can't do that right now at work. lol

I've actually given up on most fizzy drinks now. And I consider these new "zero calorie and sugar" drinks just pointless since there are better things out there anyway than having to suffer the godawful taste of them.
I shall stick with water and fruit juice too!

The only fizzy drink I like is what I had when I visited czech; they call it 'sifon' or 'sodofka'. You basically load up a cartridge and carbonate plain water yourself. Here, they charge you $3 a bottle and call it 'perrier'. I haven't been able to find the do-it-yourself carbonated water cartridges anywhere in Canada.

Ahhh... I remember having one of those machines in the house as a child. I can't quite remember what they were called but they seem to have gone out of fashion now.

Coke zero is basically diet coke with more sweetners, I just drink diet cherry coke these days, it's great.

tartan, its basically a glass bottle, maybe 1.5 or 2 L in size, with steel meshing on outside of the glass, correct?
Tom, did Coke really think by adding more sweeteners, they could then advertise it as 'real coca-cola taste'? I don't mind Coke classic, but the film of ooze it leaves on your teeth after just one bottle and the extreme carbonation is what keeps me away from it. Maybe my teeth are sensitive, but I swear I can feel them rotting away the moment I drink pop.
I think they should just bring bag the REAL original coca cola. you know, the one with the natural goodness of south american coca leaves. :)

Thats different than the type that was sold here. We had a main machine and different sizes of plastic bottles which could be screwed into the main machine. Into the bottles you would pour a set amount of the drink and a lot of water, screw it on and press the button a could of times to fizz it up. Great fun!

Tartan - I had one of those when I was a kid, too. They were great but kind of just disappeared.

Anyone remember when Pepsi came out with it's clear version?
I think it was called crystal pepsi.

Shouldn't it be called '7-up'? :)

They have some of those bottles on ebay! They're called Seltzer bottles.
Man, I'd buy one just for kicks, but where the heck would I buy the CO2 refill cartridges?

I can't stand the taste of aspartame... which unfrotauntely leaves a whole world of "sugarless" products out of my reach :(
Also... I'm a big fan of the Cherry Vanilla Coke :P

That diet drink fizy rubbish causes cancer. Honestly.
I don't bother with fizz no more. Gloria Jean's (that's a coffee place like Starbuck's) have a thing called an Italian soda. It's fizzy water with some coloured liquid squirted into it. I've had that before. Much better then Coke nothing.
In South Africa TAB is still popular I'm told
I think I'll have a nice cup of tea

What's still going in the UK? SodaStream is the way to go.
Or fermentation :)

I meant the company. I never knew it was still around! Huzzah for home-fizzing!

I knew guys who used to inhale the gas to get off. Eh. Dennis Leary talks about that sort of thing on one of his albums. They called them whippets

kids with no access to drugs and/or money will inhale anything to get high. I heard on news that in on neighborhood in Michigan, kids were getting high by inhaling freon from AC units.
That why the 'War on Drugs' is a failure; you can't stop drugs if the demand for something, anything, will always be there among the kids.

So no war on emo? :(

I compared this to emo as it's impossible to stop while there is a demand.
A while ago I was drinking that chinotto stuff. Y'know the Italian cola with a bitter taste. Not to everybody's liking. but I quite enjoyed it
