13 years, 11 months ago at May 15 14:26 - I know I've banged on about this for years, but is there any way you can just allow 100 points for a review instead of the current 50? Reviews and lists used to generate the same amount of points as one another, I'm all for seeing that return. Before any change that takes time to code or implement, this simple feature must surely be a simple fix!
Then, building on from that, in the same way that you can customise a list to generate more points, I think a review should have incentives too. For example:
Less than 50 words = 0 points
51 to 200 words = 100
201 to 500 words = 100+50
501+ words = 100+100
I cannot see any logical argument against this idea, mainly because people have stood by quite happily and watched the review section degenerate into a senseless breeding ground for copy-and-paste heroes and illiterate retards, as highlighted somewhat in THIS SUGGESTION. If people were genuinely concerned that people might suddenly flesh out their reviews to earn a few extra points, then let the votes do the talking and ask what is more difficult to do, pull 500 words out of thin air, or post ten pictures.
As the image is now king on listal, I'm sure nobody would even notice these changes, except for the small kernel of reviewers who have been contributing worthwhile material to the site for years, without much adulation, purely because they enjoy writing. They can't be a bad bunch to keep around.

13 years, 11 months ago at May 18 9:12 - I am all for this. It is such a shame that some members have been abusing the review section (as highlighted in my suggestion above). All those 'reviews' should be deleted and we should all be able to start a fresh.
If people want to write a 'twitter' style review, then there should be a separate section with less points and no bonus'. The comprehensive review section should be the place where people make a genuine effort and be rewarded as such.
@giraffe is correct, that shouldn't be allowed either. We're not allowed to upload duplicate images so why should we be allowed to add duplicate reviews?

13 years, 11 months ago at May 23 13:22 - I have now removed many of the duplicate reviews, as far reviews copied from imdb or other bad reviews I can only know about what is reported (unless I randomly see them) and there are very few reviews reported (only around 1 a day)

I've got time, 'specially now that summer's coming around. As long as you provide a way for people who report reviews to link to the original review or detail as specifically as possible where they got it from, then it shouldn't be too hard.

If a track-listing option does ever appear (and I am all for it), then it could be worth something like 10 points. It is just a copy and paste addition to listal after all (like an image).
