Can't post comments to list

When I click the "Post comment" button, the text I wrote just disappears but the comment does not get added.

I can't even read existing comments.

"comments" are not registering or visible on lists...

I was just going to ask about not seeing comments on lists, thanks for the responses. Why have they set it up that way?
