Books/ texts about cinema

Have anyone read anything about film history? Any recommendations?
I'd like something that also concentrates on European cinema and various (including eastern european) movements too.

All I can really recommend are books on the giant monster movie movement - specifically, the making of Godzilla.

Godzilla on my Mind | Japan's Favorite Mon-Star | Eiji Tsuburaya: Master of Monsters

The above cover a little niche of cinema that's worth learning about. The latter two are really hard to find for a reasonable price, though.

Sorry, I'm not interested in Godzilla, but maybe somone else will find your information useful.
I've been actually thinking about Short History Of The Films by Kawin but I'll probably end in buying several books about dufferent movements/periods.

Here is a list to my film studies books. Tho, I have a few more items to place on my 'wish list'

"Short History of Films" by Kawain is a really great book. It is short and simple but covers information on various film movements. I still find it very useful as there are somethings that just aren't covered at all by the larger and more pricey books.

After that "The Oxford History of World Cinema" would be my next choice.
