Is the Blu-ray version of Star Wars worth buying?

JPHOLT 11 years, 9 months ago at Aug 2 13:04 -
I have the VHS and DVD versions of the original Star Wars trilogy. For those that have the Blur-ray version, would you recommend buying it as well? Thanks, in advance, for your response.

Personally, I think if you already have the dvds, you don't need the blue-rays but it depends if you are die-hard fan. I'm pretty sure Xanadon't ( tctorn.listal.com/ ) has the Star Wars blue-rays, you can always ask him on his profile.

Thank you for your answer. I was thinking the same as you stated, even though I AM a die-hard fan. The main reason that I haven't bought them all on blu-ray is the price (about $100). Thanks again for you answer and suggestion, I really appreciate it.

I received my Blu-Ray copy as a gift, though I know it wasn't anywhere near $100. Now keep in mind, it only recently came into my possession and I haven't gotten to exploring the bonus materials yet- my impression is that this a rather basic edition. But really, all I personally wanted was to have all three films in my possession again- I bought the special edition VHS set the day it came out, but somehow never got around to buying DVD copies later on. and back in 1999 a high school girlfriend's VCR ate Return of the Jedi.

I'm thrilled to finally have them all in a format that I'll actually use, but as johan said, I don't see any real rush to upgrade from DVD to Blu-Ray, at least until (if) Blu-Ray begins to truly take over as the established format.

Thanks for replying, I appreciate your insight. That sucks about your VHS tape being eaten by the VCR. I've had that happen too many times to count.

Ah, but the hungry VCR monster did bring a certain level of excitement to the viewing process that we just don't have anymore.
