12 years, 2 months ago at Apr 13 15:51 - When I added some books from Amazon.com by entering their link in Listal search, the name of the author, as on Amazon, was correctly showed in "Written by", BUT the "Author" field was left blank and I had to manually write it in Edit item

12 years, 2 months ago at Apr 13 15:56 - Oh yeah that happens a lot to me with different items, whether it be musicians, writers or actors. Basically I'm guessing that person hasn't been added before, nothing more significant than that (I don't think anyways). I wouldn't worry about it. Were they hugely famous authors or reasonably obscure?

12 years, 2 months ago at Apr 14 14:03 - This is a common problem for me, as well, and not just with obscure authors. I noticed it while cataloging my own book collection here. I tried to choose 'alphabetize list by author' and it would not work. It took me a bit to figure out why and it was because the 'author' field was blank when I chose the 'no image' display mode.
Of course, I also realized that it wouldn't alphabetize them properly anyway because it does so by the first name and not the last...which is weird.
I thought to simply make an actual list of my book collection but I own well over a thousand and that ... would be a chore. I could probably carve a mini- Mount Rushmore in less time. (lol)

Now, if my memory is correct there was a time where adding a book the author would be automatically added or at some point the system would updated the information.
Now it seems that no matter what book I add. It *will* show me the correct author on the book page but the moment I go to a list the author has disappeared. So, I go back to the book... click edit... and the author field shows as blank. So, I type in the name that somehow only existed in some 'ghost world'.
I'm just sort of wonder at what point book authors seemed to become more glitchy. Ah, and I agree with Fortunato... I have a few lists with far too many books for me to just sit there and manually add the information :/
