A bit of Vista-related humor for today ;-)

Came across this satirical article on BBspot website. Though I'd share it to brighten up your day. Enjoy. :)
I personally have had nothing but headaches with Vista, and I went back to XP. But I'm also dual-booting Windows 7 Beta which is rock solid, sexy as sin, and fast as f**k...
Ballmer Admits Vista Biggest Practical Joke He's Ever Pulled
By Brian Briggs
Redmond, WA โ Steve Ballmer announced today at a press conference in Redmond that Windows Vista was โthe biggest practical joke he's ever pulled.โ
Ballmer said the elaborate hoax, which took thousands of employees, years of secrecy and millions of dollars to pull off successfully, was โright up there with the Zune and Windows ME.โ
โI can't believe how many people fell for it,โ said Ballmer. โI mean didn't they have a clue when it launched without many drivers? And really, Windows Vista Home Premium? You didn't get that? What did I have to call it, Windows Vista Home Premium Deluxe Platinum Version? Would you have gotten it then?โ
Ballmer, long known as a practical joker, has been pulling off many more pranks these days now that Bill Gates has left his day-to-day position at Microsoft. โWithout Gates around, there's no one here to keep him in check,โ said one company insider.
Ballmer admitted that actually releasing the OS may have taken the joke a bit too far, but he never thought anyone would take it seriously. He added reassurances that Windows 7 was โnot a joke.โ
Many Microsoft fans were relieved by the news. โI'm glad to hear it was just a joke,โ said longtime Windows user Paul Thurston. โI was beginning to think that the company had lost its much heralded sense of humor.โ
Mark Starkovitch, who follows Microsoft for Merrill Lynch, said, โThe greatest trick that Ballmer ever pulled was convincing the world that Vista exists.โ
Ballmer ended the press conference by honking a horn twice, spraying the crowd with a seltzer bottle then driving off in a tiny car with twenty other Microsoft executives.

I know how to use a computer, so Vista to me was a God send compared to XtremelyProblematic on my old one. Everything runs smoothly, never had an installation problem or anything. It actually does what I want it to do instead of just sitting there ticking over.

I made a choice to go back to XP after loading up Crysis on Vista, and getting about half the frame rates I get on the exact same box in XP. And a week later, i got a blue screen crash in Vista, the first one i've seen on my box in years. I also loaded up vista on my laptop, and everytime it 'went to sleep', it was equivalent of putting pets to sleep (i.e. WOULDNT WAKE UP).. lol.. and it took about 25 minutes off my battery time on my laptop. yeah, scratch that one as well. And I grew up tweaking computers on my 286 with DOS 3.0 on (or was it maybe even DOS 2.0?), so no need to imply that I'm not proficient with PCs.
RB6K, you are in the minority by having absolutely no issues with Vista. Congrats. As for me, Windows 7 beta is so far proving to be the Vista I always wished for. and it loads up in a blink of an eye. Havent tried Crysis on it (yet) but I will.
The legacy of Vista will be about as bad as Windows ME, when everyone stayed on Windows 98SE and skipped over ME into Windows 2000 or XP. I see the exact thing happening again; everyone sticking with XP til Windows 7 is released.

My Vista was working fine for about a year until recently it tries to tell me that I haven't got a legitimate copy of Vista. A diagnostic tells me that my Windows Office is fine but my OS is counterfeit - when actually it's the other way around.
Even then I had office installed for a whole year before it suddenly realised it didn't like it. It curiously coincided with the installation of the new messenger, which is undoubtedly ladened with microsoft spyware!
Other than that it was working like a dream.

They seem to have encouraged this Windows 7 love fest or something, everyone is raving about it! I got Vista because it came with the PC, I dont think most people are bothered what software they have as long as it runs, but I have had far more problems with XP than Vista.

Windows 7 will boot with 512 MB Ram and actually works the way it should. As opposed to vista. In class we tried dual booting a machine with both. vista kept crashing on our shit computers. But 7 ran with almost no problem. Apart from Aero, it ran fine. :)

what are some tips on tweaking computers ?

don't ever mess with the registry directly unless you are absolutely 100% sure you know what you are doing.
