Biscuits

tartan_skirt 17 years, 11 months ago at May 23 23:55 -
On the theme of organised randomness, I bring you biscuits.

I'm a Brit, therefore I love my biscuits. I love digestives, bourbon creams, hobnobs, pink wafers, cookies (cookies=biscuits but biscuits≠cookies), party rings, custard creams (I even have some of my own as one of my pictures), shortbread (because I'm Scottish :P), gingerbread, Penguins, crackers, Ginger Nuts and so on. I like to dip them in milk (don't like tea), pry apart the different layers and eat them separately, or just gobble them down.

My favourites include Fox's Chocolate Fudge Crunch Creams, chocolate Bourbon Creams and of course the ever-endearing digestive. Cheese and crackers is a great snack too!

What does everyone else feel about biscuits? Love the Cookie Monster? Shocked at the outcome of the Cake or Biscuit Jaffa Cake row? Or did I just make you very, very hungry?

Hey at least you used the correct british terminology. Not that awful cookie thing. Americans have a thing called biscuit which is a hard sloppy bready looking thing. Yucko.

We have Hobnobs in Australia now! Yay! I don't buy them 'cause I will eat through the packet in one go and my belly explode! Jaffa cake is good british bikkie too. As long as you didn't find them in the road (don't worry, obscure ref. you're too young to remember)

Americans do make OREOS! That is to their ever lovin credit.

All Australian are addicted to a chocolate biscuity thing called Tim Tam www.arnotts.com.au/products/TimTam.aspx

The other Aussie classic is the Anzac biscuits. Very addictive. www.aussieslang.com/features/anzac-biscuits.asp

Oreos! They are quite addictive! There might be shops that sell the mini ones here, but they aren't as fun.

Those Aussie biscuits sound nice too. One day I'll have to go on a world biscuit tour to eat them all!

Gah! I remember a biscuit I dislike: Wagon Wheels. I mean, who the heck puts jam and marshmallow with chocolate and other stuff and calls it nice??
KingFahtah 17 years, 11 months ago at May 24 12:27 -
Ha I used to love those things:)! This will make you sick..for a while they where making wagon wheels in white chocolate. It's true!

Hey I've been reading that nice cup of tea site. Amazing!

I must get one of my Finnish friends to send me abag of Fasu Pala. Looks like da good paskaa...

I happen to love those American biscuits... Which is unfortunate as I am Canadian and living in a province where most people have never even heard of them. If only Pilsbury delivered... :(

Also.. I demand a Venn diagram for the difference between cookies and biscuits :P
tartan_skirt 17 years, 11 months ago at May 24 15:04 -
Ahh, but you see a cookie is a type of biscuit so a Venn diagram wouldn't work. ;) Biscuit is the all-encompasing word for many things sweet and savoury (cookies, crackers, etc.) here in the UK.
KingFahtah 17 years, 11 months ago at May 26 9:06 -
Ah yes cracker biscuits. Then you have it's cousin the cripsbread.
that's where the lines get blurry.

Anybody like rice crackers? Really good with cheese \, smoked oysters, various savoury topping.

Good. The ginger nuts are very hard here. All you ninjas could sharpen them and use them when you run short with star knives!
tartan_skirt 17 years, 10 months ago at Jun 14 10:25 -
Ginger nuts are nice dipped in milk. It softens them up a bit. ;)
KingFahtah 17 years, 10 months ago at Jun 16 2:40 -
I like em with my tea. So I guess that would be good

Try Biscuits and gravy before dismissing the American biscuit completely.
tartan_skirt 17 years, 10 months ago at Jun 16 11:56 -

coyoteblue 17 years, 10 months ago at Jun 16 15:45 -
You say potato, I say spud... (-_^)
tartan_skirt 17 years, 10 months ago at Jun 16 15:54 -
Nah, I say tattie. Well, not really...

I had some nice German biscuits when I was on holiday but I think we can actually get them here! Woo! They were called Doppelkeks and were a chocolate sandwich type thing. Yummy!
KingFahtah 17 years, 10 months ago at Jun 16 21:44 -
Umn...where I am chocolate sandwich is another thing.

Scones are good with strawberry jam. I don't think I will put them in my gravy, thanks anyway
