Best music videos you have seen?

Deleted user
Deleted 15 years, 2 months ago at Feb 22 21:11 -
A while back some friends sent me some music videos on youtube that were pretty good, better than the regular pap you see on MTV etc. I was thinking, (this has probably been done) but what are your favorite music videos, what is the most beautiful/thought out music video you have ever seen? I don't want to see anybody rapping shit about hoes, or Beyonce talking about all her sisters, I am talking about inspiring and serious videos that instill awe into the viewer. (Mods I'm counting on you!)

I will be honest, I can't think of any personally that I want to share, yet, but thats why I am asking!

Far from Beautiful, www.youtube.com/watch?v=4E4hCTrX7pw&feature=related&fmt=18

but Prodigy's Spitfire video is seriously thought out and must have taken quite a long time to create, most of the other music videos I've seen don't really work well but it's pretty cool... very angsty and aggressive, and kinda in your face and explosive, but think about it
granted, the song only has one set of lyrics in it, "If I was in world war two they'd call me spitfire" really, it makes me think they got bored, but the music videos is still kinda cool
I'll get back to you with more that are more what you're looking for though

OKGo's Here It Goes Again is pretty good, though a little overrated... www.youtube.com/watch?v=pv5zWaTEVkI

Well, there is Interstella 5555. Wherein Daft Punk's music and Leiji Matsumoto's character design are merged into one unruly beast of anime/music video aswesomeness.

Looks simple but its not.

It was because of this song and video that I got back into rap.

SK - Monkey Wrench isn't even slightly what I meant by a beautiful well thought out video. Looking through everything so far, this is the MTV Pap I said was not what I meant :( Pearl Jam - Do the evolution is a pretty good one though nice pick, the rest are not what I said hehe. Ok go's video whilst an impressive dance, does not inspire awe and is not beautiful.

I want special music videos that make you think wow thats incredible. I shouldn't have asked for favorite videos really, I wanted art. Sorry!

That is probably the freakiest and coolest thing I've seen in a while Escafeld(Honestly, when I first heard it, I thought my computer was frying :P scared the shit out of me)

It asks what we think are the best, so I'm sticking with what I put... and adding Escafeld's to it,
but if you want other videos you find beautiful/awe/inspiring, we kinda need to know what exactly you're looking for(for example give a video, we can use that video and find others like it)

I don't have a video really DP, thats why I am asking. Dont think I am criticizing your favorites though, I just meant what ones make you think woah impressive, or make you watch them over and over because they are just so incredible etc. Escafeld that one is a pretty good pick. Bit unusual of course but least its unique.
silent killer 15 years, 2 months ago at Feb 23 23:24 -
Dude, I can watch Thriller all day, and not get tired of it. I don't think even that is what you are looking for however. I think you may be underestimating the value of a story told in three minutes, which is what many music videos are. Atleast the ones worth watching over and over again. Although I suppose if you wanted that you'd just go watch a movie proper. Crystal Method got some trippy ass videos that often make no sense, but are a blast to watch.

I'm pretty sure I see what RB is looking for, I don't think it matters if the video matches the song, but it's gotta be artistic, poetic, effective, eyecatching, kinda the kind of video that you see once and are like... Woah...
But not the mindfuck kind of woah(Like spitfire's video is) the kind of woah, these dudes are poetic geniuses for coming up with that

Am I right RB? or still off?

Sounds kinda right, doesn't have to be poetic or anything, im not a woofter! But I wondered if anyone had any video masterpieces.

Duality by slipknot. I like when cory puts out his hand and stops the crowd then he sings and all hell breaks loose.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Aphex Twin's hilarious Windowlicker video:

EDIT: replaced previous video with higher quality version.
robelanator 15 years, 1 month ago at Apr 9 19:43 -
Speaking of artists making out with themselves, the video for Bjork's "All is Full of Love" (directed by the same guy as the Aphex Twin one above) is pretty cute:

Hm, well, I personally really like the video of "Bad Day" by Daniel Powter.

I don't watch a lot of them though. I don't have a TV and I'm not exactly the type who surfs Youtube unless I am looking for something.

I can't stop watching the music video for the song 'The Carnival Is Over' by Dead Can Dance (1993)...

'Parabola' by Tool...

and the video for the song 'Sowing The Seeds Of Love' by Tears For Fears (1989).

This one maybe it isn't a masterpiece and it looks dated now, but I can watch it today with the same enthusiasm as I did twenty years ago.
pamela voorhees 14 years, 9 months ago at Aug 17 14:26 -
Agreed with the Tool song, and any other video they have; but to keep it real I would have to say Michael Jackson's Thriller.

btw: Roosters video is like watching a 5 minut Vietnam War movie and Nightmare is like watching a 9 minut zombie movie

Anything by Frontline Assembly is pretty good but you should all check out Literal Videos on Youtube. They are mostly old videos but they are hilarious!

Thriller. I mean, I know it isn't an original response, but no music video will match up to its iconic status, its epicness. Even in the 90s, this was everyone's favorite video in elementary school.

Nice vid Escafeld, Autechre is the bees-knees!

Venetian Snares - Szamรกr Madรกr

Watch out for the computer crash part ;)

Also, the director of "all is full of love" is Chris Cunningham who has done some of nice videos with Aphex Twin and Autechre.

I feel kinda embarrassed posting this cause not alotta people here seem
to listen to anything other than English or Japanese songs.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=val9femyp2E

The song is in Korean (English subs)

Don't be embarrassed by Korean music, sadly that video is no different than 99% of material pumped out by US/UK boy bands.

Agree with "All Is Full of Love" by Bjork and add:

Ulver - It Is Not Sound

Aesop Rock - None Shall Pass

Only by Nine Inch Nails music video directed by David Fincher. Fincher's Fight Club covers similar ground as this song (You were never really real to begin with. / I just made you up to hurt myself... There is no you, there is only me), though it could well be unintentional. The director and Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor also worked together on Se7en's intro, and would later collaborated on The Social Network (this time Trent created music to complement David Fincher's movie).

Pardon the censoring - it's Vevo.

Come to Daddy by Aphex Twin. Kind of a slow intro but it's well worth it.
