The Band You Want to See Live, But Never Can/Will.

Who are the musicians you never got to see, before they disbanded/died, that you wish you could have seen, or even been alive to see.

Some bands I would love to have seen live in their heyday are bands like Queen and Led Zeppelin, these two are massive names who were forced to stop due to deaths in their bands. Both have done a bit of a "come back" of late, but it's certainly not the same!

Being around in a time where Beatle Mania swept the world, or when Elvis was in his prime would be nice experiences too, but I imagine people weren't quite as hyped up as it seems in hein site. The 60s and 70s were supposedly the greatest eras in music, so a few of the older generation on here must certainly have a "one that got away"

Please don't ruin this thread with bands like Slipknot and Blink 182!

Reasons would be nice as to why :) Please don't just list bands, a thread is so much better when people write whole paragraphs in response, and they last a lot longer too.

The Who has been one of my favorite since i was about 4 years old. They were very famous in the 60's-70's.most of my favorite songs included "See Me,Feel Me","I can see for miles and miles",and "My Generation".Led Zepplin is a very creative band.I'm mostly interested in one song called "Cashmir" i feel it has a kind of 'horse travel' rhythm.I've heard a sog of the who on a car commercial.

Hmm...this is a hard one.
Metallica
Ac/Dc
Poison
Maroon 5
Nickelback
Crossfade
Def Leppard
Foo Fighters

And probably a bunch more that would kill this thread. It kills me having overly protective grandparents. They'd rather die than let me go to any type of concert unless it was a christian one.

Edit:(sorry, just read that you wanted some reasons. I usually have that type of timing..)
I like a lot of old bands, and some of their music. Me and my mother used to listen to all kinds of weird, cool, and interesting music. But I would love to be able to see a couple of the newer bands live. I love some of their music and lyrics.

Ah Tori, I would hate to be in your situation, only being allowed to listen to Christian rock. What gives eh? Its so harsh forcing beliefs onto you and then saying you cant appreciate decent music because they have some warped belief that the boogie man likes Nickelback.

I feel for you, hopefully when you leave home you can see some decent bands!!

Why Queen all the way Charis? Any particular thing you like about them? No one else you wanted to see?

Thanks RB6K. It's not my mother that really would ban me from good music, just the grandparents I live with who believe if it isn't Christian, it's the devils music. *sigh* But when I grow up, I'm going to college and getting away from a small town like this where nothing will become of anyone who stays and go to some good concerts and enjoy good music.

Hah! I just have a ridiculous obsession with Freddie Mercury. My father saw him in concert and has told me his whole life how amazing of a performer he was.

But other rock bands would probably be Styx, The Beatles (of course...), AC/DC, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Cash. I'd love to see Radiohead, but I really don't get out much. Maybe some day.

I hate the fact that I'll never see Siouxsie and the Banshees live. Now, I HAVE seen Siouxsie perform solo in this past year, but its just not the same. What I would have given to have been able to go see them in their prime... *sighs*

I'd probably throw INXS on that list... Grew up on their music and it's a shame I never got the chance to see them perform live.

first of all, GREAT THREAD!

1. Jimi Hendrix
2. Johnny Cash
3. Jesus & Mary Chain
4. Mazzy Star
5. Nirvana

Tori, if you were in Texas a few years ago, you could have seen Def Lep perform for free in the Wal-Mart parking lot in San Antonio. No Joke. Sad.

Ah mdk, hearing stuff like that makes me wish we had a better music scene in the UK. Instead you *could* go to Camden and catch an STD/Die from a DOD. We don't get any big grandeur shows etc which is what I think we deserve! Might have to form a world conquering band now...

Charis, my dads the same about Queen. He was planning on seeing them live, and said to himself "Its ok, I missed this gig, but there will be PLENTY others" then Freddy died :| He regrets it every time he hears them play!

Nirvana are a band I would of enjoyed seeing just the once I think. They had some good songs, very talented.

Gotta agree with all those who said Jimi Hendrix, The Who, and
Led Zeppelin.

There are a whole bunch of blues (Muddy Waters, Albert King, Stevie Ray Vaughan!) and jazz (John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Charles Mingus) folks that I lament never having the opportunity to see live.

I think it would've been neat to see The Grateful Dead once before Garcia died, just to see what all the fuss is about.

Led Zeppelin I promised my partner I would take her to see if ever they did a come back tour, sure enough the bastards did a tour less than a year later, and held a public balott for tickets, there was no freaking way I could afford two let alone one! Next stop Fred Zeppelin I think!

Why/how do people get 4 months back in threads to do this?! Time travel??
