Attractive Children?

Is it just me, or is it rather odd to be rating children based on attractiveness? I find this list rather strange to say the least. I've only checked the first few names, and two of them are only 15! What is wrong with some people? ...or am I simply being an over-sensitive onion?

Edit: I posted it here because I don't think such things should be allowed, not that I'm sure how you'd go about quashing such weirdness, apart from binning such lists if and when found. It surely promotes the wrong kind of thing on Listal. Anyway... I smell pizza...

I think it would be totally okay if this was a site intended for families and teenagers but as we have discussed so many times, this has turned into an adult site whether we like it or not. vThey can't have it both ways. They can't get mad that we don't want adult content and then post the kind of list that really should only appeal to teenagers or pedophiles.

I take it nether of you have endured an episode of "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo"... it really should come with a warning that it may cause immediate psychiatric care after more then one application.

I agree, it's not that bad. It's more just ridiculous. If it was from another user I probably wouldn't even care that much.

I saw this list earlier and raised an eyebrow at it myself. Strange, to say the least. Makes one wonder. It's fine, imo, to look at someone young and say, "Aw, so pretty," or "they'll grow up to be truly beautiful one day."

This borders on creepy for me - especially w/ all the T&A lists floating around here, not to mention the crass and lude language that some use.

To echo Tersanay, keep Honey Boo Boo away from me, too. Are there any uninhabited islands that girl could be dropped on?

I will say as a moderator that we do take images of underage women very seriously. We did have to delete a lot of pictures of Jodie Foster when she was younger they were just too... well we don't want to be that kind of site. Don't care if it is fine on another site but not on Listal.

Yes, we have had a few too many creepy people creeping around the corners of the site... really don't need to encourage it any more then we have. Oh... soon... people... once the new security tools are introduced I'm hoping there can be a little bit more of a purging... until then I'm just sort of gritting my teeth.

Sexualizing young girls is kind of just a societal issue in general. :/ At least in the US. I can't speak for elsewhere. But we make girls into women way too early. And in the porn industry, videos featuring teens are super popular. It's kind of just a popular thing to think of teenagers as 'sexy' nowadays. EDIT: Not that it hasn't been before. Thinking of teens as 'too young' is actually a very modern way of thinking; it only really developed in this last century. EDIT2: Nobody probably needed a history lesson. Sorry. XD

But at the same time, I agree with Tersanay's point, where we probably wouldn't be as bothered if it was posted by someone else. xD I mean, there are similar lists like that everywhere all over the internet. In RP world I used to do searches for actresses/actors under 25 or whatever when I was looking for faces for young characters, and it's kind of like "hmm, which of these 5 trillion lists about hot teenagers do I feel like going through today."

Still, inappropriate content is just an issue we face in general on this site. The porn crap is worse, but I don't think we should be part of the sexualizing minors thing either. I'd really like Listal to just become less gross. x.x

I find the list creepy and inappropriate, especially on a site that allows profiles and lists about pornstars.

It it were something like "Talented Actresses under 21" or something like that, I wouldn't be bothered in the least. But "Most Attractive Girls under 21"...... is really poor taste.

I sort of agree with all of you, but I think it is mostly about the words used, and know what other type of lists/images the user who made it often makes/likes, and not the list itself.

If it had been made by someone else, without connections to the porn material on this site, it might not have appeared as creepy.

And if it said pretty or beautiful the list itself might be more acceptable, but using the word attractive, at least for me, gives the feeling that there is something sexual behind it, without saying it straight out.

That list is definitely creepy, especially because of the user who made it and her rather...obscene interests. Lists like that definitely send out the wrong message because when mixed in with the porno and nudie lists on here, it gives off a kind of child molester vibe.

I mean, why would someone need to make a list of "attractive" girls under 21? Listing girls who are under the age of consent is not cool, it's total pedophile bait.

I think the Lolitas list wasn't meant to be interpreted in that kind of way because it's a list of underage girl characters in movies and a reference to Vladimir Nabokov's classic novel Lolita, whereas the other one showcases "attractive" girls under 21 in a more perverse sort of way. But I can understand how the Lolitas list can be looked upon as gross, because there should be less of a focus on those kind of things, especially on a site like Listal.

Severin, at first I was a little creeped by the list, but generally okay with it because it seemed to be a list of sexualized young girls in movies. But it's pretty clear after a few of the more oddball entries (Hailee Steinfeld from True Grit, Wednesday Adams) it's a list of young girls the list author finds attractive. I know about the Nabokov novel, but when most people use it, they're not alluding to the novel (at least not directly), they're using it to describe a young girl they're attracted to. After reading your comment Phineas, I realize that I can't really justify that list, what with the comments and the reference to Lolicon and all. Even if the list wasn't meant to be pedophile-like or whatever, I guess it does come off as totally wrong and should probably be removed. It seems that it isn't just me, which is nice to know. Referring to some of the comments made here, it is very easy to see the worst in something if you don't like the person who created it, and I wondered if that might have been the case here. There is clearly more to be concerned about though. I didn't comment on the Lolitas's list because I felt a little like Severin, wondering if the intent was actually far from perverse. I think that some of the comments made on the lists are even more concerning, and not only should some of these people be removed from Listal, but they also make us wish that we could perhaps remove them from life (in a non-sinister way... obviously!).

With regards to the list Xolmis made on Lolitas in cinema. *facepalm* I actually voted for that because I took it as Sev did; I thought it was an objective look at the phenomenon in film...

Funny, females can ogle Taylor Lautner - who was underage in the second Twilight film - all day long no matter how repugnant they are or how horrific their intentions may be. But adult males, no matter their intentions, aren't allowed to appreciate aesthetically pleasing folk, no matter their age?

I'm not defending pedophilia, I just think we've reached an oversensitive point in our society where adults aren't allowed to think someone is aesthetically pleasing without being accused of pedophilia. And I don't think anyone has said that young men/boys shouldn't be afforded the same care. But most of the lists I've seen have been about young girls, and those are the lists that happen to have been brought up here.

The poster of the list has had less than honorable tastes and behavior in the past, which is why her intentions are in question here. And many of the comments these lists got in response were not just saying that they were pretty. BrazilFashion already cleaned them up, but we quoted some of them here. And when these comments, like "i've would kiss annasophia's tummy right away," "i've would watch a movie with her under the covers anytime," and "lovely young kitties list" are all coming from someone who supposedly is a guy close to retirement, who has threatened members on the site including hints of rape, and who was purposely shown the list by the list maker... well, I do think the lists should be questioned. And that's just one of the guys who was shown the lists and responded; many similar comments were made by similar members.

I completely agree though. This is a topic that deserves to have eyes kept out for. Even if I didn't have daughters of my own, this topic would concern me.

I don't believe that anything dealt w/ in movies or books is off the table for discussion but this sort of thing...it's just too easy for the predators and gutter-sleaze to flock to - even if it is offered up in an objective and questioning manner. It's just too close.

As for the boys vs girls argument...I agree w/ the ladies; either is disgusting and predatory. The already 'foggy' atmosphere here with regards to skin and subjectivity makes it even worse. When sharks are swimming in the water, you don't drop blood into it.

But we both know that there are women who exist out there, who live in caves plastered with photos of Taylor Lautner, who weigh more than a baby elephant, and whose vagina is covered in so many layers of fat that it hasn't been seen by human eyes in over a decade. And those women are no better than the fat 40-year-old men who jerk off to child porn. I actually read last week that four obese women sexually assaulted a man about twenty minutes from where I live.

I think it's also the class of pictures on the list that bother me too. I just think it's bad form to make a list including 14 year olds Ryan Newman and Madison Pettis as well as 7 other girls 16 or under and then list Kate Upton (who really does owe her whole career to selling herself as a sex object although in a somewhat classier way) and Barbara Palvin and use this as their pictures:

I see the concerns of many of you, but let me spend a few words in favor of Xolmis. I know him as a Listal member who usually makes normal lists about movies

So, my guess is that his aforementioned list is just a list about a type of character as objectively seen in movies. It's a list about Cinema.

I fully understand that there is a "foggy" atmosphere on Listal, like Fortunato exactly put it. I don't like this fog and I think we should try to dissolve it, for instance through a ban on porn star images and related poor taste lists. The new 3-pics-per-user upload limit for such profiles is a step forward in the right direction.

If other Listal members make lists with adult models that create a bad reputation for Listal, then let's blame those users, not Xolmis, IMHO.

The thing about Xolmis' list though, is that although a lot of the characters on that list could be seen as a type of character, some of them don't which makes it seem as it is his opinion of the young actors, which makes it seem creepy.

Whether it was intended that way, I don't know, but to me the reason it is creepy is not the general atmosphere on listal, but people included on the list

Yeah, if the list was just a list of young female movie characters who fit into an archetype it would be an okay list. Maybe still a little creepy, but understandable all the same. But like Martine says, there's a bunch that stick out as not fitting that description.

And also, as was said, the comments and the kind of people those lists attract are unsettling.
