Anyone else a little annoyed at the shortening of games?

It seems that over the past few years, games have sort of taken a turn in a big way to be geared more for the casual gamer. Making them only 15-30 hours long. While the production level is beyond anything that gamers used to have, is it worth it? Yeah, games like Mass Effect look amazing, and have great voice acting, but it's only 30 hours, and it's an RPG at the end of the day, and that just isn't good enough for some people.
While I've always thought that 20 hours was perfect for FPS, I'm not getting that anymore. 5-10 hours is not worth the 60 dollars that games cost, and while multiplayer is fun, it's not fun enough a lot of the time.
I don't know, just something that's been on my mind recently.

I don't know, if you look at older games like Metal Gear Solid, you could race through that in about 4 hours if I recall. RPG's will always be longer than other genres generally, and while I've never played Mass Effect, other game gimmicks designed to make a game last longer (eg Final Fantasy X - monster catching and breeding) annoy me more because it makes game completion unrealistic.
It also depends on the skill level of a player. I could have completed Bioshock a lot quicker than I actually did but found myself exploring every single nook and cranny of the game. I don't think I've ever seen an FPS that takes 20 hours though!

yeah that was a bit of an exageration

As I get less free time, I don't care as much about short games, I have way to many games to play and not enough time to play them...

Companys just wanna churn out as many games as possible and by making them shorter we are done with them quickly and go out and buy a new one.
It's a sorry state of affairs. I prefer games that take hours out of my life where I can get lost from reality. That is why Console RPGs were perfect for me. But they don't make them like they used too!!

It is really annoying, it struck me hardest when playing Xenosaga, what that was it? They spread the story out over multiple games and gameplay as well, then they should have chopped the original msrp as well.

I just finished Mass Effect in 12 hours.
This is exactly what I'm talking about.
