i think typically there are 5 or 6 stories max but has any film done more?

wow 18 ... nice find - there is something appealing about shorts as this just get straight to the point - of course they are frustrating too as some ideas DO need fleshing out - essentially a story should take as long as it takes...if its 5 minutes thats cool if its 3 hours thats cool too

Still, the 40 example seems to me a collection of shorts rather than a movie in 40 segments. Just nitpicking :)
