Anonymous and vague warnings

EatMorePez 9 years, 2 months ago at Feb 16 23:48 -
Why do moderators send anonymous and unspecific warnings to Listal users? If I have violated the image posting policy is it too much to ask what exactly I did wrong? Telling me I uploaded a duplicate image doesn't help me. Telling me which image and when I uploaded it is helpful. Why can't you include this information in your warning? And why can't I respond to the moderator who sent the warning? After all, asking questions is how people learn and how mistakes can be avoided in the future.

Furthermore, I have filed literally over 100 reports of duplicate images in the last two months, without a single word of thanks from anyone. Instead, I get warning for uploading some unspecified dupe images myself. Really?

I'm not trying to be difficult, I just want some open, two way communication between moderators and users. But that is rather impossible when I get a mail message that says, "This is a system message, you cannot reply to it."

I'm not the one who sent out the warning to you, but from what I can see the reasoning for you receiving that warning was pretty clear. The warning is also pretty clear on what you're supposed to do to avoid having your images removed in the future.

If I'm not mistaken, you should get a notification that tells you that you've had an image deleted. And by clicking on that, you should be taken to some of the image information you're asking for. However, I'm unsure of if this notification still arrives when it comes to duplicates or if it only arrives when an image is deleted for other reasons, so correct me if I'm wrong here.

As for why you can't respond directly to the warning, there's a very simple reason for this. To avoid users from harassing us. This is something that used to be a major problem in the past, and we've found out that a strict, clear and anonymous warning was the most effective way to deal with a problem. The warning should also be clear enough that any further communication shouldn't be necessary.

If you feel that communication is necessary however, then you'll just use the forum as you've done now, and someone will hopefully arrive to clear things up.

We are extremely grateful that you, and other people, are sending in reports of duplicate, or other rule breaking images. But seeing as we're receiving over hundreds of reports every day from different people, it's impossible for us to thank everyone for their effort. We're after all only people ourselves with a limited amount of time on our hands.

Hope this cleared some things up.

Hey Eatmorepez,

The mods are able to see all of your images that were recently deleted. For instance you posted images of Hailey Clausson and Sara Sampaio from SI that were posted four hours earlier. They would have been at the very beginning of the feed for those girls and you posted them anyway.

Did you have any specific questions that we could answer because I'd be happy to give you more feedback. It's not as though you did something horrible, hence the warning and not a ban. I was not aware if you knew the rules and therefore thought I would send you a warning to let you know what's up. It's not personal, it's a lot easier to fix something before it becomes a big problem. As Bml93 said these messages are anonymous to protect both the mod and the user, this is not public information for either party. No one on the site knows that you were warned.

Thank you!

But, like other mods explained, a "warning" is just aimed to avoid further problems.
Sometimes specific examples are given in the warning, but it is anyway the Moderation Team saying to take more care; in this case, to please check for duplicates before posting an image.

Yes, definite thanks for reporting. That goes a long way towards making this a better place to hang out. I can't stress enough how important that is and how much we appreciate it. If only there were more people like you.

Also, again it's not personal and the warning is just to inform you of any rules that you may have broken. It's only to help us all out for the future so your images will not be deleted. Thanks for understanding.
