Or maybe it's because the actresses are conformist blondes with no talent? I think Jolie has a good thing for Bondgirl type roles, and her vocal delivery is pretty good.

We've all been misinformed at one time or another, so I don't really care if she was a model or not. And that seems to be exactly what Prelude says, she's selling herself out. Though I partially disagree with him. I think some of the movies are worse than others - I haven't seen Shark Tale - but I feel that she gets into them. She's still over sensitive about her daughter's name, though. I read an article by a snub reporter that went Angelina Jolie didn't think it was funny, and neither should you. I couldn't help but imagine the lady had a kid named Ash Hatt or something.

How else would it be pronounced? 'Pile o' shit'?

Edit: Ah. It's still better than having a name everyone else has. But I guess names don't really matter when you think about it. Wouldn't you say, Predud?

Personally, I've never cared for Jolie or any of her roles... not even "Girl, Interrupted" which I think is just highly overrated as a whole.

What about A Mighty Heart? That was recent and a superb movie - so this "different image" that she had when she did Girl, Interuppted hasn't, in my opinion, disappeared. I think she's a great actress, but the majority of the films she is doing today are not my taste.

I refuse to watch A Mighty Heart simply based on the fact that they didn't get an African American or at the very least biracial character to play the role...

In my opinion, an honest actor should not have taken the role out of respect to the person it was based on. Whatever performance she might have in the movie pales in comparison to that and prevents me from respecting her (despite how silly that may seem to some).

I think it's great you've stated your opinion. The title poster found some common ground with at least one member. Opinions aren't really anything to fight over, especially in reference to celebrities. When beliefs differ combat is the only resolution, though.

Angelina Jolie is a blight on cinema, I wholly agree. She has never displayed any talent for acting and just as I'd avoid a film that cast Ja Rule, Ice Cube, or any other third rate actor, I'd avoid one of hers because I know it would be awful. She is in her niche because she can't act, and that's entirely her own fault.

I'd really, really love to sympathize with you. When I make a post and don't mean anything hateful and you take it as hateful, and respond with offense, there's really nothing I can do to make you feel better. Too much time is wasted on apologizing over and over for stupid little things, like using the adjective 'bloody' around people who consider it cursing, or getting the ruler because you said 'hell' in church and forgot to throw salt over your shoulder.

I really can't fix the situation I'm in any way you see it. There are things that annoy different people and they just have to sort that out for themselves, if it stresses them. No matter what I could do or say, you know they'd hold it against me until it finally came out, like how I've noticed this for a while and you waited all this time to confront me on it. I don't understand the psychology of it, but that's how people interact.

I'm confused Voxy...an African American to play what role? I can see where you are coming from, but I believe that the message of the movie and Pearl's story are powerful enough to not focus on the small aspects of the film (at least, what I see as small).

Regardless...I do agree that a movie should strive to make accurate accounts of a memoir such as A Mighty Heart. But again, the power of the movie was superb, and I feel Jolie did very well.

I've not been sarcastic once in challenging Thillian. I think I've made myself clear regarding how I feel about him and his treatment of other members of the forum. Any insult toward you wasn't intentional, and if it's any better I had the other similie of Salacious Crumb and Jabba the Hutt lined up, but I figured a farmyard animal comparison would be less offensive. I'm calling him a parasite, which isn't an insult to the host.

Listen, I don't like the manner in which Thillian responds to things, so I let him know that. I have a general rule to ignore things I don't like, but sometimes I'm aggravated enough to speak my piece. That's it, that's all.

I certainly don't think I'm "picking" on anyone... but I also don't agree with people just for the sake of agreeing with them or to refrain from ruffling feathers. I certainly wouldn't consider myself above anyone, either. We all know I'm not super active in the forums, but I only feel the need to comment when I believe I have something to add. I don't care to comment just for the sake of doing so.

With that being said... I'm happy to follow Prelude in letting this lie.

At any rate, any criticism on my manner of speaking is welcome. We all have to improve upon ourselves at various points in life, and even then that's usually not enough. I suppose I've been seeing the response to my posts and not considering what effect my own posts have of similar value. Since things tend to build and build like a snowball down a mountain, the best path is to PM me and see if it can't be sorted out. I'll do the same if I witness an issue - come to think of it, I should've done this before.

If I could explain it from my point of view, I don't happen to like humor derived from others' deprivation. When someone insults you and others laugh about it, and you're obviously hurt but they don't care, that really does suck. My intention in making sarcastic phrases was only ever to aim the humor towards the one I'm teasing - not to put one person down and give others a laugh, but to personalize it for the specific member. I guess I'm thinking on a private message mindset, where this would be assumed, as it would if someone's used to someone else's humor. Like I say, I need to improve like anyone else does.
