One name - multiple artists - what is the solution?

Toa 14 years, 4 months ago at Feb 2 12:33 -
I came to grief trying to enter Aussie band The Angels, 'Dark Room' album (1980 vinyl, Australasian edition) (BTW I'm a Kiwi). By default it linked the album to a 60s chick band (American?), which is no good, which is maybe one of the reasons the aussie Angels changed their name when they went to tour/record in the States. The problem with the band is that it went through various name changes too - The Angels (in Aussie), Angel City (in the States), and later The Angels of Angel City (in the Sates) while still releasing under The Angels back in Aussie. Yeah, blah. The limited offerings on both amazon sites just do not extend to the actual Australian original 1980 vinyl release (yeah, I know, I'm being pedantic but isn't that what Listal's about?). I only have that one LP and a 12" inch single to enter - would be nice to get them up being rarities and all.

Now, perversely, there is also a band/artist entry under the name Angel City -
So Angel City albums, including the U.S. release of 'Dark Room', has a chick default image too.

So, in summary, I need to list second bands by the names of The Angels and Angel City and link them to their correct image of the band.
Can it be done?

Thanks guys.

EDIT:
Thought 'bout it some more - would it work if I listed as:
The Angels (Australia) - Tags: Angel City, U.S., etc.
Angel City (U.S.) - Tags: Angels, Australian, etc.

Entering in either names of the bands in the search field should bring them up, and by tags also. Is this an acceptable solution?
P.S. I can supply high-quality images of band and album covers.

The CD and Books databases admittedly carry a bit more ambiguity in handling them than Movies and TV (which come from IMDb) and Video Games (which have been cleaned up very nicely).

1) I'd think the solution to the multiple artists having the same name conflict would be to edit the albums so that the artists' country is in parenthesis or with a "I" or "II" at the end.

2) As for artists who are essentially the same band but with different names, I'd think their most recent name could be used for all albums if it really bothers you, but don't look at my take as definitive.

I don't think this whole issue can be sorted out in two posts, so it would be nice if other people spoke up. Perhaps if we could get polls added to the forums some of these issues would be easier to tackle.

I think parenthesis is the tidiest and unambiguous. It would be the best solution.

In so far as -

Alternatively, their most 'common' name, i.e., in this case it would certainly be 'The Angels' (cited in allmusic.com).

A similar example of name changes is applicable to the British 'Apollo 440', a.k.a. 'Apollo Four Forty' and '@440'. However, most fans know them as 'Apollo 440', but I also tagged the alternative names.

I understand that reasoning. Go for it. ;]
