An "Add to Netflix Queue" button

Hyomil 14 years, 1 month ago at Apr 29 4:19 -
Netflix has recently dropped their 'Friends' feature and announced they'll be doing away with their list-making feature as well. Reviews may be the next to go. This seems like an opportunity for Listal. Rottentomatoes.com and the New York Times both have 'Add to Netflix Queue' buttons on each movie's page. Could Listal have the same? If not Netflix, what about other sites like 'Rent at Blockbuster' or 'Buy at Amazon' like IMDb has on its pages?

That's a great idea! I don't have Netflix at the moment but plan to get it in the near future, and this would be a helpful option.

Haven't seen the add to queue button before, seems like a good idea.

Actually that would be very helpful. Could it be possible that a rental preference is set in profiles section for Blockbuster or Netflix (or Greencine).

From what I can tell the script at IMDB to add something to your queue at Blockbuster is pretty rough. I just prompts the search feature on Blockbuster using the title and year of the film from the page where you start the script. That only becomes an issue when your trying to find something with multiple titles or what not...

Using IMDB 'rent at Blockbuster' for "The Tomb 2009" you won't see the film listed... but if you search for Ligeia at the Blockbuster site you will see "The Tomb" listed but generally anyone searching for modern b-horror films is aware of such things.

LOL, I guess my point is that it doesn't need to be very fancy. Also that I have had too much coffee....

For that level of functionality, you can use the Web Search Pro addon for Firefox (which I describe here www.listal.com/topic/new-combined-search Jul 14 2:27). You can even put Netflix, Blockbuster, Greencine, Animelane, RentAnime, Facets, Tigercinema, Cinflix and whatever else you use all in one search group so that you can search all of them at once in new tabs. It can be a lengthy process even doing it that way, though, especially with movies that have multiple AKAs and editions.

I note that Jinni.com is now another example of a site with Add to Queue buttons.

Cool, I saw the information about the plug-in. Which really isn't for me.

Just thought some insight into how the 'add to' feature on the IMDB site worked might help... then again it is all speculation on my part. So... sorry for the bother.

Cheers :)

I'd love to see this. I do wish Netflix would bring back the friends feature, though.

I'd love to see this too. I found this site precisely because Netflix ended their lists option & I had 2 lists on there that I recommended to other people. I used to pull those lists' RSS feeds & post them on my blog & website for the community who requests them. Now that they're not allowing lists anymore, I need another service that does, so an add to Netflix button would really make the transition to Listal much smoother.
