About you first question 'Is there any active members left on listal?'
Unfortunately not. It has always been the biggest issue with this website, the fact that there was not so many people actually really interested in it. Well, it seems as if even less people are active nowadays, I'm afraid.

About your other questions 'why are list from 6 years ago still being promoted?'
the fact that a list is old doesn't really matter to me, if it is a good list, it should be promoted. Anyway, the criteria for a list to get promoted is the number of votes. If a list reach a certain amount of votes, it will be promoted, no matter how old the list is.

It seems like images and lists are "promoted" if someone votes for them, let alone how many votes, but I'm not sure..

The active membership of the site has been decimated. I'm sorry for that.

That's an Alexa graph from w3snoop.com. As you can see, the site is generating roughly half the traffic it probably would have a year ago. I think there are some people mentioning good ideas on here, though I have no idea if Tom has the time or inclination to add them...

User interaction is vital to a site like this, I think. I like seeing people have voted for lists or pics, but I miss some of the tournaments and the back and forth, which seems to have all but stopped.

Its hard to keep anyone on a site for 6 years ive been here for 5 years and ive noticed tons of people leave but thats what happens i know A LOT of people didn't like the recent update the site had and im sure it lost some users because of that.

@johan - I think when Tom launched the latest version of Listal, he changed up the promotion criteria to reduce the number of lists that were strictly "hot" or "beautiful" or "nearly-naked" women. Clearly, that's also changed when lists of the individual 2016 Sports Illustrated SI models started getting promoted at 5 votes, while lists of similar models, launched at the same time, went virtually ignored.

@Avid, as far as older lists being promoted, there's also a thematic element to consider: lists of favorite movies seemed to get promoted around Oscar season; lists of classic pin-ups at Easter, Fourth of July, Halloween, Christmas, New Year's, etc.

As far as people leaving Listal? Well, I've posted over and again about the problems involved with the membership and operations of the site: inconsistent application of the rules; inconsistent enforcement by the moderators; grudge-holding moderators using their position in less-than-honorable ways.

I've been here for just shy of 5 years myself. I find (or better to say "found") it stress relief. I'm a paramedic and firefighter, currently an officer in a small US city. I've been doing it for 35+ years. I also teach paramedicine to high school level (15+ years old for non-Americans) students. If I can deal with that level of maturity, I can keep up with Listal's foibles and failures, too.

Trekmedic still playing the victim... absolutely pathetic - you should be permanently banned from this site.
don't let this guy fool you folks - he reports image violations quite often but when any image of his
is removed he throws a tantrum - and I mean a tantrum. He's been banned several times for harassing
other members, attempting and quite often succeeding to enlarge existing photos and replacing them as his
own (years and years of this), creating phony accounts to vote up his images and lists, deliberately posting
numerous duplicates and slandering moderators every chance he gets - and most recently referring to moderators
as "pussies, losers and monkeys" on numerous re-posted deleted photos and even on his profile page.
Grudge? more like intolerance. I personally don't believe any of your paramedic firefighter story - you don't
display any of the traits of a hero or public servant... not going to let you keep up any more slander and lying
campaigns or this poor me, who me? passive aggressive nonsense...

* As to the original question of active members - there's quite a few active members here and
plenty of quality content: www.listal.com/feed
