2014 films

filmbuilder 9 years, 6 months ago at Nov 7 7:52 -
Does anybody know any good movies that 2014 has to offer because this year, there's not a lot to offer! Pixar haven't made a movie, many big stars are having a year off and most of the movies are sequels to movies I haven't seen.

What I've Seen:
'The LEGO Movie'
'The Grand Budapest Hotel'
'How To Train Your Dragon 2'
'Godzilla'
'The Amazing Spider-Man 2'

What I Would Like To See:
'Life Itself'
'Noah'
'Non-Stop'
'The Maze Runner'
'X-Men: Days of Future Passed' (when I've seen the first two)
'Transformers: Age of Extinction' (when I've seen the second and third)
'Big Hero 6'

If you have a recommendation, let me know!

Went through my film diary, here's a long list of 2014 films that aren't sequels (a remake there that doesn't require viewing of the original and a few adaptions of other things) and are very good:
John Wick
Gone Girl
RoboCop
Sabotage
Honeymoon
They Have Escaped
The Fault In Our Stars
Whiplash
Boyhood
Edge of Tomorrow
Frank
The Babadook
The Homesman
Obvious Child

suggestions :

Boyhood (best film of the year)
The Grand Budapest Hotel (best film by Wes Anderson)
Guardians of the Galaxy (most fun in 2014)
Gone Girl (great thriller mixed with a black comedy)
Noah (solid Aronosfky effort)
X-Men: Days of Future Past (best X-Men flick so far)
Edge Of Tomorrow (way better than Oblivion)
The Fault in Our Stars (decent drama)

anti-suggestion :
Transformers: Age of Extinction (pretty much god-awful)

Nightcrawler gets my vote for best movie of the year so far. Nice little slice of L.A. noir, ace performance by Gyllenhaal.

Birdman
Chef
Why Don't You Play in Hell?
The Boxtrolls
Mood Indigo
Interstellar
Rigor Mortis
(technically this one's a 2013 release, but it came out in the U.S. in 2014)

Theory of Everything
Inherent Vice
Enemy
Locke
The Zero Theorem

These are films that seemed to fly under the radar but are rather good

Edge of Tomorrow wasn't bad, better than I expected.
