Timothy Linh Bui was born in Saigon, Vietnam and came to the United States at the age of five. Timothy grew up in the Silicon Valley, California, where he watched thousands of movies from his parent's video store, which inspired him to make several video movies of his own. Upon graduating from high school, Timothy moved to Los Angeles and received his Bachelor's degree in Cinema from Columbia College Film School. Upon graduating from high school, Timothy moved to Los Angeles and received his Bachelor's degree in Cinema from Columbia College Film School. Since, Timothy has directed numerous music videos and co-produced and co-wrote Three Seasons, a triple award winner at the 1999 Sundance Film Festival. It is the first film to win both the Grand Jury and the Audience Award in festival history, as well as the Best Cinematography Award. The film was also in official competition at the Berlin Film Festival. Timothy makes his directorial debut with Green Dragon. The film had its world premiere at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival in the Dramatic Competition category, and won the audience award at the Austin Film Festival. Green Dragon is the recipient of the 2001 Humanitas Prize Award. Timothy recently completed the screenplay adaptation of Helen Humphrey's Leaving Earth with his brother Tony for Radical Media. Timothy is set to direct Saharan, from his own script, about four lost souls desperately searching for love and miracles within the underbelly of Los Angeles.
