Hats Off to the Buskers is the debut album by Scottish band The View. It was released on 22 January 2007 on 1965 Records. It was reported on the band's official forum that the album had leaked to various internet sites in mid December 2006. The album entered the UK Albums Chart at #1 on 28 January 2007. The album charted at #45 in the UK end of year album chart, after selling around 319,000 copies in 2007. The album has been certified platinum.
The song "Wasteland" is also the background music for the Nike "Show Us Your 5" advertisement.
Which Bitch? is the second album from Scottish band The View which was released 2 February 2009. Paolo Nutini guests on the track "Covers". "Gem of a Bird" is about Kyle Falconer's girlfriend Katie Gwyther, with whom the song is a duet.
The album received mixed reviews from critics and debuted at number 4 on the official UK Albums chart in its first week of release, but in stark contrast to its predecessor Hats Off to the Buskers it dropped down the charts quickly and spent just two weeks in the UK top 40; it fell to #27 in its second week before dropping out altogether. Three singles were released from the album but all failed to reach the top 40; 5Rebbeccas and Shock Horror charted at #57 and #64 respectively. The album's third single Temptation Dice missed the top 100 altogether, and is their lowest charting single to date.
Bread and Circuses is the third studio album by The View. It was recorded with producer Youth in 2010. In late 2010, the band went on an expansive tour of the UK in support of the album.
Reviews of Bread and Circuses were mixed. It entered the UK Album Charts at #14. First single "Sunday" was released as a free download in November 2010 and second single "Grace" was released one week before the album in March 2011, with the previously unreleased B-side "Clowns". "Grace" was inspired by guitarist Pete Reilly's downstairs neighbour and their noise complaints against him. The single failed to chart inside the UK top 100.
