Description: The Lonely Island is an American comedy troupe composed of Akiva Schaffer, Jorma Taccone, and Andy Samberg, best known for its comic music. The group is from Berkeley, California, and is currently based in New York City, where they are currently working on Saturday Night Live (SNL). The group began creating live comedy skits in junior high school and continued to do so, expanding its repertoire to comedic shorts, music parody (both songs and videos), and one full-length television pilot, before coming to the attention of Lorne Michaels of SNL. The Emmy-winning "Dick in a Box," "Jizz in My Pants," "Like a Boss," "I Just Had Sex," "The Creep," most recently "Jack Sparrow" (feat. Michael Bolton) and the Grammy-nominated "I'm on a Boat" have subsequently had huge success both on the show and on the internet and prompted the recording and release of an album, Incredibad, in which the group moves in a more musical direction.
In August 2007, the group premiered its first feature film, Hot Rod.

Incredibad is the debut studio album of the American comedy troupe The Lonely Island, which is composed of actors and childhood best friends Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone. The album was released February 10, 2009, on Universal Republic Records. Many of the songs on the album debuted on Saturday Night Live as SNL Digital Shorts. The CD version of the album also includes a DVD featuring some of the digital shorts.
Collaborators on the album include T-Pain, Norah Jones, Jack Black, E-40, Julian Casablancas, Sly & Robbie, DJ Nu-Mark, J-Zone, Natalie Portman, Chris Parnell, and Justin Timberlake.
Many of the songs on the album debuted on Saturday Night Live as SNL Digital Shorts. The tracks that originally premiered as digital shorts on the show were licensed to Universal Republic from NBC and Broadway Video, although Universal Music retains phonographic copyright of these works.
The album debuted on the Billboard 200 album chart at #13, with first week sales of 48,000.

Turtleneck & Chain is the second studio album of the American comedy troupe The Lonely Island, which is composed of actors and childhood best friends Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone. The album is set to be released May 10, 2011, on Universal Republic Records. Many of the songs on the album debuted on Saturday Night Live as SNL Digital Shorts. The CD version of the album also includes a DVD featuring some of the digital shorts. This is the first Lonely Island album that also has a clean version- on Live with Regis and Kelly Samberg said it was because they knew they had a lot of young fans and they "wanted to do the responsible thing."
