The Dream Syndicate foi uma banda norte-americana de rock alternativo que fez parte da cena paisley underground, formada em Los Angeles, Estados Unidos, no ano de 1981, por Steve Wynn (voz e guitarra), Karl Precoda (guitarra), Dennis Duck (bateria) e Kendra Smith (baixo). A principal característa no estilo musical do grupo, é o seu marcado feedback, influenciado pelo The Velvet Underground. O primeiro álbum fora lançado em 1982, chamado The Days of Wine and Roses, mas embora obtendo uma boa recepção da crítica, não fora um sucesso comercial. Em 1984 lançam Medicine Show, em 1986 Out of the Grey e em 1988 Ghost Stories,
