Steve Byrne was born in Freehold, New Jersey. Byrne grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and went to Hampton High School. He graduated from Kent State University (Kent, Ohio). He is of Irish and Korean descent. Steve has a younger brother, William Byrne, whom he mentioned in his Comedy Central Presents Special. At the time, his brother was in the audience and on leave from Iraq while serving in the US Army. His father and brother both served in the Army and Byrne is a supporter of the U.S. military.
