She attended California State University from 1984 to 1986. After that, she attended Pacific Asian College till 1987 and graduated from there.
Shirley is based in Los Angeles and is an in-demand landscape designer too. She is also the host of the television show called Garden Police airing on Discovery Home Channel. She regularly appears on NBC's show iVillage Live as their garden and outdoor living expert. Also, she appears on HGTV as a guest designer on the national cable show called Outer Spaces. She also appeared in the upcoming HGTV special titled "25 Biggest Landscape Blunders" slated to air in late 2007.
Shirley has also contributed to USA Network's program named “Ready for the Weekend Movie.” Besides being a dynamic garden communicator and blogger, Shirley is a popular speaker at garden and consumer home shows and writes Eden-Makers Blog which is featured in GardenWeb.com.
Shirley runs her own garden design business called Shirley Bovshow Garden Design and Décor. Her business expanded quickly after neighbors and strangers took note of her unique handcrafted gardens and their designs and began to request for her services. She is a self-motivated and contagiously optimistic kind of woman. She has made gardening as her long-time hobby and interest and saw an opportunity to start her own business doing what she loved most. She got herself certified in Landscape and Nursery Practices in 1999 and opened her doors for starting the business in that field.
She is a member of the California Association of Nurseries and Garden Centers, Garden Writers Association and is also the owner of the online store called Eden Maker Décor. Shirley is also a member of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers. Currently, Shirley is writing a book series entitled “Eden Makers.” The book is based on her philosophy of today’s aspiring homemakers and the desire to create a better home.
Before entering into the field of garden design, Shirley enjoyed a successful career in real estate and public relations.
Shirley is a married woman. Her husband is Larry Bovshow. The couple together has four children. She lives with her family in LA, so there is no question about her divorce.
