Sarah Baashan joined the Saudi delegation to the UNFCCC in 2012 as a negotiator on Climate Change policy. She is assigned the Response Measures and Mitigation files and is considered one of Saudi’s leading women working on climate change policy.
An advisor to the Saudi Ministry of Petroleum and Minerals since 2012, Sarah has been an active member of the Ministry representing the Kingdom in various United Nations conferences. She is currently a member of UNFCCC’s KP Compliance Committee and a facilitator on articles 11 – 26 legal provisions within the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.

Sara holds a BA in Management Information Systems and a Masters Degree in International Affairs and International Economic Policy from Columbia University. She has worked in a number of organizations for the last 12 years, including Downstream and Corporate Planning in the private sector.
