Romain Barras, born August 1, 1980, in Calais, is a French decathlete.
Barras was first introduced to the sport at a very young age. His father would take him to practice to make him move so he could discover the sport early. Thus, at 2 and half years old, his father would let him run on the corridor of his apartment which measured approximately 10 metres. His father would place shoe boxes for him to jump over and he was to make the course as fast as possible. "Yes, that was my first hurdle race," Barras laughs.
