Description: Robert Palmer was a British writer, a poet, a barrister, and a British Army officer. He was born in London. His parents were British politicians. He served as a page of Queen Alexandra, studied law, graduated from University College of The University of Oxford, joined the Hampshire Regiment of the British Army as a second lieutenant, and worked as a barrister. He was mobilized in the beginning of the First World War. Initially stationed in India, he was promoted to the rank of captain, then served in the Mesopotamian campaign where he fought in battles during the Siege of Kut.
